Westward Ho! beach is a stunning 2 miles of golden sands, patrolled by the RLNI lifeguards and has been awarded the European Blue Flag award for clean water every year for the past 16 years.

We have a resident elite coach who holds a Level 4 coaching award from the ISA and Surfing England, this is the highest coaching qualification there is - it's like a PhD in surfing! He also has over 30 years of international coaching expertise and with the professionalism from our surf school team we ensure that everything we do is to the highest of standards.

We pride ourselves on our facilities of male and female heated changing rooms, secure storage, toilets, shower, surf shop and café, all on a big sunny decked area.

We are proud of the lessons we run and the service we offer, we love the fact that over 70% of our lessons are repeat bookings from previous years.

The Ultimate Day out - why not come to the Ultimate Adventure centre for the whole day and get a taster of our aerial adventures testing yourselves on our 2 courses of High Ropes, Climbing Wall and Jacob's Ladder as well as our Ultimate Assault course which is a range of water and land-based obstacles designed to challenge and test all ages and abilities. Ride the water slide and take on the big balls. You may have seen something similar on TV, but try the real thing, it's not as easy as it looks! And if you thought the day ended there, you'd be wrong! Once you've grabbed your afternoon coffee you'll be guided across a short scenic walk to our nearby Wilderness camp where you can grow your shelter building, fire making and wild cooking skills.

All of the activities have been designed to challenge participants whilst remaining fun, adrenaline packed, exciting and above all safe. Work together as a family/team to experience a top day of outdoor activities in the North Devon countryside.

Activities are suitable for those aged 5+ as long as they are accompanied by an over 18 year old and able to swim at least 10 metres unassisted. Those aged 8+ who are able to swim at least 10 metres unassisted can participate without an adult but an over 18 year old must remain on-site with them at all times.

The order of the day is subject to change depending on number of participants.

At Surf SUP Academy we run surf lessons across North Devon. We taylor our surf lessons to suit all abilities, from complete beginners to intermediates and advanced surfers wishing to brush up on their techniques. We are happy to accommodate students that wish to use their own equipment.

The times of our lessons will vary according to the tide, daylight hours and weather conditions.

SUP Sessions
Our most popular sessions are our Torridge River sessions where we use the incoming or outgoing tide to take us up or down the river.

Two of our personal favourites are:-

The Bideford to Appledore cruise using the outgoing tide.
The Little America to Little Amazon cruise using the incoming tide to go up the river and then when the tide turns we use the outgoing tide to come back down the river.
Both of these routes are very scenic and have lots of things to see, as the river flows along the edge of forests, cliffs, rocky coves, shipwrecks, boats and villages.

Learn to Kitesurf with 514Elemental at Westward Ho! in North Devon UK. We provide Kitesurf, Power Kite, KiteLandboard and Kite Buggy lessons, courses.

Here at 514Elemental our focus is on providing the highest quality kitesurf and land kite lessons out there. We are a BKSA recognised school. All our lessons take place on Westward Ho!s blue flag beach. We will only hold lessons when conditions are adequate. All equipment is provided and of the highest quality, please see our equipment page. Our team consists of professional kitesurfers who have over 41 years of experience collectively. They are BKSA qualified to the highest level.

Founders Robin and Sukie have over 41 years of Kitesurfing experience between them. They hold many championship titles, are BKSA senior instructors and National coaches for Freestyle, Wave and Foil disciplines. Other roles have included: BKC Head Judge, RYA National Coach and IKSURF magazine equipment testers.

Weve all arrived at the beach and forgotten a valuable part of kit or been left without the kite size needed, no panic. We provide supervised hire of our equipment. All hire is supervised by our instructors on the beach, enabling you to recieve a couple of tips as well as peace of mind that someone is keeping an eye out for you at all times.

Kids:
Here at 514elemental we know just how much stoke kitesports can give to the groms out there. So, we wanted to make sure we offered specialist kids kitesurfing and landsite lessons. Secondly, we wanted to offer a cheap way for kids to continue learning through our club.

With both of the schools founders starting at early ages they have reaped the benefits and enjoyment kitesports can offer. We have made the Kite Kids Programme to help make it more accessible to learn kitesports and to ensure there is a way for the rippers out there to continue learning and enjoying our fantastic sport.
