The Museum contains nostalgic relics from the somerset that is former Dorset Joint Railway that used to operate from Bath to Bournemouth, with all finally shutting in 1966.It's a charmingly atmospheric facility with public of railway related exhibits and artefacts and a large number of rolling stock and vapor locomotives from throughout the years.You can read about the quirky old section names of bygone days and explore the evocative galleries filled with name-boards, lamps, tools, signalling equipment, tickets, photographs, handbills and more besides.Although it is fairly formal and academic, kids are warmly welcomed and so they can step back in its history and hand run the levers in the reconstructed Midford Signal Box.All in most it is outstanding trip for young ones already enthusiastic about trains, however fundamentally the area to ignite the attention in the uninitiated: there are no running train rides as an example. Nevertheless it's volunteer run so your proper chuffers being little have some body enthusiastic to quiz on all things rail!
