By 1806 much of St Cyriac’s was a crumbling, ivy-strewn ruin with no roof, but there wasn’t a princess who had been asleep for a hundred years at the top of the medieval bell tower. After checking for sleepy princesses and re-homing the bats, the ruined building was knocked down and a new structure built. The result is an elegant Georgian interior with slim columns, beautiful clear glass windows, acres of open space and great acoustics – perfect for a party.

The church of St Cyriac & St Julitta is very popular locally and has a thriving community who use it for local events. During the summer the Friends group use part of the church to host a pop-up afternoon tea shop, with home-made cakes and steaming cups of tea. Yum. This won’t impact greatly on your booking as the last scone crumb will be packed away by tea-time, but please be aware that there may be people in the church when you arrive. With tea. And cake.

Meadow View Campsite welcomes tents, caravans and motor homes. The small, level site has grass and hard-standing spaces, electric hook-up points, and free toilets and showers. Wifi is available and there is no charge for dogs.

There is a log pod available to hire which can sleep up to four people and comes equipped with a futon, bunks for children, television, microwave and kettle. There is a small American motorhome available to rent, and we have static caravans that are available to rent for short or longer periods of time. Bedding can be provided for an extra fee.

Meadow View is situated on the edge of Wicken. The small village has a rare twelve-sided smock mill, a picturesque duck pond and a number of thatched properties. The latter includes the local pub, the Maids Head, which serves a good range of food. Within easy walking distance of the campsite is Wicken Fen Nature Reserve, the first-ever property acquired by the National Trust in 1899. It has a visitor centre, a small cafe and various walking trails. There are many other walking opportunities in the locality: one pleasant stroll follows the Lode to the hamlet of Upware where you can enjoy a meal at the Five Miles from Anywhere No Hurry Inn.

Wicken is ideally placed to explore the countryside of East Anglia. The small city of Ely which is dominated by its cathedral, The Ship of the Fens, is 10 miles away as is Newmarket, the historic home of horse racing. Both are served by several high street stores as well as Tesco and Waitrose.

The campsite is a stone's throw from the stunning RSPB Ouse Fen reserve, a stroll away from the beautiful Fen Drayton Lakes and River Great Ouse, and a cycle or bus ride away from Cambridge.

Campervans are limited to the panel van derived type and to a maximum of 6m in length. 'Coach-built' vans/motorhomes are not permitted.
Commercial vehicles (those used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site except where prior approval has been given.
Additional cars are not permitted when travelling with a campervan.
Vehicles longer than 6 metres or with twin rear axles are not permitted.

Slade Paddock is in the beautiful small village of Witcham, in East Anglia. This is a small and friendly family run site which is on a working farm. Surrounded by farmland and lovely walks, our secure, gated site is well located and close to many great locations to visit.

On-site, we have a charming quirky relaxed pub, called “The Humble Pig”. BBQ’s are allowed on the spacious, open grounds if you’re keen to rustle up food alfresco – we also provide one on-site for your use. All of our pitches are large, flat and closely mowed, and all have 16 amp electric hook up and water. There is also free Wifi available throughout the site.

There is a bus service in the village from the local green which takes you to Ely. We also have a dog walking track directly opposite the site.

Slade Paddock Certificated Location

Our Coppice Woodland glamping site is a collection of intertwined ‘rooms’. We let the site to one family or couple at a time so our unique glamping site offers exclusive use of our native two acre woodland. The romantic woodland site offers bathing under the stars in the indulgent wood fired hot tub. This is a great family event or something special just for two.

A renovated 1973 VW camper van with a permanent full sized double bed at one end and a small children’s (up to about aged 6) bed at the other end (where the driver and passenger seats used to be)

**Useful things to know**

There is no power at the glampsite. There are solar lamps and solar fairy lights and torches. There are plugs in the potting shed a short walk away if you need to charge any devices during your stay.

   The glampsite is unheated, so please bring appropriate clothing, hot water bottles and extra duvets or sleeping bags during the winter months!


Coppice Woodland

The Secret Garden is perfect for a couple or can be used as a sister site to the Coppice Woodland for a larger group or two families. Our Secret Garden site has an earth sheltered cabin with kingsize bed and solar fairy lights. The woodland spa area hosts your own private wood fired hot tub while the covered swing pod and open hammock hang, both nestling amongst a wildflower meadow & fruit orchard, allows for outdoor relaxation whatever the weather.

There is no power at the glampsite. There are solar lamps, solar fairy lights and torches, also there are plugs in the potting shed if you need to charge any devices during your stay.

The Secret Garden
