Encouraged by the enthusiasm of our wonderful guests we converted what was once the cowshed (or byre) into self-catering accommodation in the idyllic Brecon Beacons setting. This two-bedroom cottage is perfect for one or two couples or a family/group of four/five, and as both bedrooms are equal in size and stature, there is no need to quibble over who gets the best one!

This tastefully furnished two-master-bedroomed stone dwelling with solid oak beams throughout and flagstone floor belies its lowly beginnings. It provides an open plan living area with double height sitting room complemented by French windows looking out towards Pen y Fan and the Brecon Beacons.

A wood-burning stove ensures the place is warm and cosy should the weather be inclement with comfy seating to relax and enjoy the views, the company and the conversation. The dining area enables you to enjoy romantic meals prepared in the well-equipped kitchen; or you might choose to come back from a day out on the hills to a hearty stew that has been cooking in the oven on the wood burning stove.

The Shepherd’s hut was built to our specification. We wanted to ensure that it could accommodate a full-length bed for maximum comfort (who wants to sleep crunched up unless you’re a dormouse?) as well as a wet room equipped with a shower, basin and an upmarket self-composting loo.

A drop-leaf oak table was fitted under the triple windows to maximize working space (although it is difficult to remain focused on tasks when the view is of the beckoning Brecon Beacons, but it’s great for somewhere to spread out the weekend papers). The attention to detail is wonderful with oak floorboards, underfloor central heating (even in the wet room), sheep’s wool insulation in the walls and a wood burning stove for good measure.

Even the ironmongery was sourced and made locally. Once built, it was finally winched into place (quite a feat of engineering in itself) so that the largest window looks out towards the aforementioned Brecon Beacons, the window over the bed looks up across the field towards a majestic oak whilst the view from the stable door is of Hay Bluff and the Black Mountains. Amanda set to with her sewing machine to make the soft furnishings as well as upholstering the chairs. She then rummaged around in the barn and in local shops to find the remaining pieces to give the hut its finishing touches.

Outside there is your own private hot tub to soak away the aches and pains of the day. You can relax on the swing seat on the decking and enjoy the panoramic views whilst supper cooks in the pizza oven or BBQ. As dusk melts into night you can marvel at the stars in the Dark Sky Reserve whilst toasting marshmallows over the open fire.

Each morning Amanda will bring a continental breakfast hamper to your door.

Tucked away in the upper corner of the field, Seren Bach (meaning Little Star in Welsh) is the new addition to the glamping pods at Argoed Barns. This 7m diameter luxury camping pod still has a huge 5m wide window to capitalise on the stunning views and light yet has the added benefit of a viewing window in the apex through which to admire the night sky for which the Brecon Beacons has justly earned its Dark Sky Reserve status. As tastefully and thoughtfully designed as Seren Mawr, this is another perfect dog friendly hideaway for a special romantic break or for those needing a digital detox.

Like its sister, it is furnished with a brass bed for a sumptuous night’s sleep in crisp cotton bedding on a goose down topper. A wood burning stove complements the cosy atmosphere with a sofa to cwtch up on and a dining area to enjoy the meals created in the well-equipped kitchen. In Seren Bach you don’t even have to pop outside to do the washing up as the sink has been incorporated within the kitchen area. The insulated floor is scattered with rugs and animal skins to enhance that decadent feel.

Lighting is provided by solar powered lanterns (feel free to bring your own candles too), creating a romantic mood. Whilst supper is cooking, you may wish to peruse a book, play a board or card game; perhaps pore over a map and guide books to plan your itinerary for the next day. There’s even a wind-up radio so that you can listen to the weather forecast or your favourite program.

Seren Bach

Seren Mawr is a generous 8m diameter glamping pod with a superb 5m wide window to maximise the magnificent views and light. This is the perfect place to escape from it all for a special romantic break. It is equipped with a brass bed for a restful night’s sleep in crisp cotton bedding on a goose down topper.

Seren Mawr

Argoed Barns is a collection of four different types of luxury accommodation primarily, but not exclusively for couples and dog lovers.  It is nestled on the side of a hill with stunning panoramic views of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. Attention to detail is evident everywhere.
Accommodation comprises a self-contained converted barn holiday cottage which can sleep 4/5 people in two bedrooms and welcomes up to three dogs. 
The Shepherd's Hut is ideal for a couple;  It has its own integrated wet room and private hot tub with a continental hamper breakfast delivered to your door each morning.  Cooking facilities are limited to a barbecue/pizza oven.   
Tucked away in opposite corners of the field, you will find our two luxury camping pods with their own private facilities. Argoed Barns

Our site is spread over six fields, with just 20 generously sized and widely spaced pitches mown into the long grass on the edges of our hay and wild flower meadows managed for their biodiversity as important habitats for insects, birds and wildlife.  

Choose your spot and settle down to stunning views of Pen y Fan, Corn Ddu, and the surrounding hills and farmland.

Group bookings of 5 or more adults are not permitted.

No large caravans, motorhomes, or loud music.

Children under 14 years old are not permitted on site.

We have 2 showers and 4 toilets, two washing up areas and a cooking and eating area in our campers' barn. We have a small honesty shop selling some fresh produce and the basics. There is a communal freezer available for freezer packs and charge points for mobile phones etc.  Rubbish and recycling is provided - bins can be found near the wash facilities.

Firepits are available free of charge and you can purchase wood and kindling from us, or bring your own.

Campers seeking peace and tranquillity can choose a pitch in some 20 acres of wildflower meadows bordered by native woodland. Wander through the fields on mown pathways, or follow the footpath onto Mynydd Illtyd common for miles of gentle tracks, stunning views and glorious sunsets. Our site is spread over 6 fields totalling more than 20 acres with just 18 generously sized and widely spaced level pitches, mown into the long grass on the edges of our hay and wildflower meadows which are managed for their biodiversity as important habitats for insects, birds and wildlife.

We have 2 showers and 4 toilets, two washing up areas and a cooking and eating area in our campers' barn. We have a small honesty shop selling eggs, dairy produce and cupboard staples. There is a communal freezer available for freezer packs, a fridge, and charge points for mobile phones, etc. Rubbish and recycling is provided - bins can be found near the campers' barn.

Firepits are available free of charge and you can purchase wood and kindling from us, or bring your own.  Parking on the pitch is allowed.



Pwllyn Farm Camping

We are a farm campsite in the foothills of the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons National Park.
We do not have hard standings, our pitches are all grass.

The town of Hay-on-Wye is close by. Pen y Fan and Waterfall Country are within easy driving distance.

We are a rural campsite set within the 520 square miles of the Brecon Beacons National Park - Wales’ first European Geopark. The Brecon Beacons National Park has been designated an International Dark Sky Reserve - the first place in Wales to achieve this award and only the fifth in the world. Newcourt Farm Campsite offers the ideal base to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty, to embrace and enjoy the true taste of Wales. Truly the ‘Land of Plenty' and inspiration of poetry and song.

Newcourt Farm Campsite is idyllic for the holidaymaker wishing to get away from it all, enabling you the chance to unwind and relax. Sit back and take in the stunning panoramic views across the Wye Valley, listen to the buzzards calling overhead and enjoy beautiful sunsets. On a clear night above the Brecon Beacons, stargazers are able to see the Milky Way, as well as numerous major constellations, bright nebulas and even meteor showers, making us the perfect destination to visit to get a better view of the night sky. "Perfect location to ponder our place in the universe." Don't forget to bring binoculars or a telescope. Dog Walking - there is plenty of space within and around the campsite for dog walking. If we are not too busy, we have areas you can let your dog have a run off the lead.

For those looking for a more active holiday, the site is ideally suited for keen hill walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers. There are activity centres nearby for adventurous types wishing to take part in outdoor pursuits. We are able to accommodate supervised groups and schools, particularly those taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. The Black Mountains and miles of the open countryside are easily accessible. Pen y Fan and Waterfall Country are within easy driving distance. There are many public footpaths to follow throughout the area. Horse riding, swimming, fishing, golf and gliding are all available close by.

Newcourt Farm Campsite offers clean and well-maintained toilets and 50p coin-metered showers. There is also an undercover wash-up area for pots and pan cleaning. A chemical waste disposal point is behind the shower block and there are several drinking water points on site.

Newcourt is a quiet family campsite.
 
Noise, music and drinking are not permitted after 10 pm.

Anti-social behaviour will NOT be tolerated.

Wood burning fires are NOT allowed

Charcoal BBQ's are allowed. Raised so as not to burn the grass.

Newcourt has an zero waste policy. All rubbish must be taken away by visitors.

The Proprietors reserve the right to refuse admission and to remove people

All anti-social behaviour is reported immediately to Dyfed-Powys Police

Newcourt Farm

The hut has its own UV and sediment-filtered spring water supply and a separate heated Ty Bach washroom and toilet (with a 'proper' loo) and shower. It is surrounded by oak decking, meaning you won't get your feet muddy!

There is a wood-burning fire and electric heater in the hut, a microwave oven and gas hob and grill, an outdoor seating area with solar lighting, a barbecue and fire pit, and secure off-road parking.

A recently installed hot water system for the shower and outside washing-up area gives you all the luxuries of home – and if you cannot bear to be out of touch with the outside world we have fibre WiFi to the hut (and plenty of power points).

Caban Bryn Arw

Our traditionally designed shepherd's hut Caban Bryn Arw is situated in our separate garden (for your own use and not shared) very close to Abergavenny's dramatic Sugar Loaf mountain. It is secluded and private but with the advantage of fabulous views over the countryside. 

There are many footpaths – including one right outside the hut – leading to great walking and mountain biking countryside. Visit the pretty town of Crickhowell and the River Usk. Or sample local food and drink in the area’s pubs and restaurants.

There is a wonderfully relaxed and old-school atmosphere here at Cayo Retreat in Herefordshire.  Situated on a working farm, this ' Multi award winning campsite is beautifully laid out and stunning, with dramatic views of the Black Mountains as a backdrop and the glorious Brecon Beacons National Park on your doorstep.  Come here for a digital detox, to get back to nature and enjoy the gorgeous surroundings. There is also one static caravan with 3 bedrooms and well equipped - including a shower room and toilet - for a very comfortable stay indeed.

The enviable location of Cayo Retreat means that you don’t have to go very far to get to some of the area's best walking and mountain biking trails around the Brecon Beacons and Offa’s Dyke, so dig out those hiking boots and get exploring.  After a day on the trails, head back to the campsite, swim in the river and light up the campfire for an evening of stargazing.  If cooking feels a bit much, wander the fifteen minutes into the local village of Longtown and have a delicious meal at the local pub. Welcome to Talybont Farm Camping in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Our campsite is part of a working farm in the beautiful village of Talybont-on-Usk.

The Llangorse Multi Activity Centre offers a great range of active tasks well suited for families to complete horse that is together!Their center offers over 25 miles of calm private bridleways on which to take pleasure from a jaunt on their friendly and experienced steeds. Your 4 to 6 year olds could possibly get started with a 20 minute led walk on a cute pony, whilst over 7s may take a brief cycling trek because of the family members or a lesson they boast a massive normal stone caving system and indoor normal rock climbing, truly the only types of these in the area if they desire to start correctly!For interior activities! Plus, artificial walls which are climbing bouldering areas. Or if you fancy less up and much more along try out the rope bridges, high level cargo net, the zip line or the tower that is abseil! You will find climbing facilities for more youthful young ones too: the Phil that is fully climbable the and Dudley The Dragon! All indoors so no weather problems.Outside however there's much more: the Junior Challenge program for 6 to 12s features 2 sections of mid-air assault course style challenges, one 3m off the ground and another one can drive the super safe zip line system for over 3km!The BMX pump track however is for all ages competent on the tires, with an awesome levelled and textured circuit system for fun and skill development.And finally the Dingle Scramble is dirty and energetic enjoyable for groups only, with a remarkable 1.2km scramble through water features and tunnels, up and down abseil and climbing towers and generally in and out of this mud at 10m! Further up is the Multi-Level Challenge at 12m high, but that's for over 12 years only, as may be the awesome Sky Trek feature where. For hardy over 8s!

Come and enjoy a fantastic day out at Cantref: Brecon's adventure that is biggest! You will find animal shows going on every half hour pet that is including, pony trips, ferret racing plus arts and crafts! Generally there's lots doing to keep yourself busy!With a big interior play area, ball cannons, swamp trip and European countries's sledge trip that is longest plus pig racing generally there is something for your family. There clearly was a Farmhouse Cafe do-it-yourself that is attempting to sell that will be open every single day and there is something special shop on location.Please keep in mind that young ones must be 93cm or higher to possess a pony trip and there's an extra fee of just £2.50 per ride and you get to take home a pleasant red rosette showing to your family and friends.
