A gorgeous (and award winning) site this one, for lovers of the great outdoors, nature and wildlife, walkers and cyclists, young and old, artists, non-artists and those who just like to sit and be still…..come and relax on this family-run, working organic farm in the beautiful countryside of South East Cornwall. In tourist terms, parts of south east Cornwall are relatively unknown, and this is a wonderful place to stay to discover and appreciate all that this gem of a county has to offer. Penbugle Farm - all 260 acres of it - is devoted to the appreciation of the rolling countryside and nature, and the owners here provide a wonderfully stress-free break in tranquil surroundings.
There is a variety of different accommodation on offer here, from an open field for tent camping to large glamping pods (Big Chief Wigwam cabins), which are set in a small grass paddock behind the main farmhouse, and each one has a large amount of space and privacy. The pods sleep 4-5 people and have lighting, a heater (to keep cosy all year round), a kettle, toaster and a fridge. Outside there is access to a private toilet, shower and washing up facilities. You need to remember your own bedding and towels, crockery and cutlery and a good torch - there is not much light pollution here and dark skies mean wonderfully dark nights! Each pod also has an outdoor picnic table and chairs, a firepit and a standpipe for water. The whole glamping area is car free - meaning not much noise pollution either - and wheelbarrows are provided to hoik your things the short distance from the car park to your pod.
South East Cornwall is a stunning part of the UK, and while you are staying at Penbugle there are lots of attractions nearby and places to explore and uncover - only if you want to, of course. The campsite is located between the market town of Liskeard and the bustling fishing villages of Looe and Polperro. Polperro is a very attractive and quaint village with charming narrow streets - so narrow that cars are banned - and a wonderful array of art galleries, pottery shops and many other colourful independent boutiques. It is famous for its history of smuggling, and lots about this can be found at the Heritage museum in the village. Looe - a larger fishing town but equally picturesque - is a really lovely place for a day trip. Potter around the cobbled streets, and in the evening sit at the waterside and watch the fishing boats come back into port before sampling some of the catch at one of the local fish restaurants. There is also a lovely long beach here with crystal clear water, soft sand and rock pools. Other nearby attractions include the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lostwithiel, Fowey and the historic former prison at Bodmin.
Closer to home, you can spend time enjoying the farm and even collect some fresh organic eggs for breakfast. For the creatives, an on-site ceramic art studio means that you can have a go at decorating a piece of pottery, or even create your own masterpiece from scratch! This really is a lovely place. If you are looking for a relaxing outdoor holiday with a bit of glamping luxury, in a location with lots to do around and about, Penbugle Glamping is a great choice.
Penbugle Organic Farm has been recommended in the SW tourism excellence awards 2019/20 and in 2019 Penbugle Farm won the Cornwall Tourism Gold award.
