Oysterber Farm Holiday Cottages

Oysterber Farm CL is situated near Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales set in open countryside midway between the villages of Low Bentham and Burton-in-Lonsdale. There are three pubs all within walking distance. At High Bentham 2 miles away, there are a good range of shops including 2 small supermarkets, full banking facilities and a post office.

Close to the three peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent, this part of England offers some of the very best walking, climbing, cycling and caving. From the CL you are on the doorstep of The Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, and the west coast seaside resorts of Morecambe Bay and the beautiful Lancashire countryside only a few miles away in the Forest of Bowland.

Ingleton and Clapham, both famous for waterfalls and caves, are very close and it is only 6 miles from the attractive Cumbrian Market town of Kirkby Lonsdale whilst the wildlife reserve at Leighton Moss is only a further 5 miles away.

Recreational facilities around Bentham are many and varied, including fishing in the river Wenning for trout and sea trout and Stocks Reservoir and the charming village of Slaidburn are only 15 miles away. There is an 18-hole golf course with a modern clubhouse 2 miles away at High Bentham and a very active footpath group organizes guided walks around the area every week; there are 28 well sign posted walks in all. Both on and off road cycling is very popular and there are many green roads free of traffic to ride, including a cycle way that runs the length of the Lune Valley all the way to Morecambe on the Coast with branches off to various other destinations. Close to the CL is the owners Studio Pottery where you can book a pottery course. Ranging from half a day to a full week, or simply just to come and watch. The area was once famous for its small potteries and the nearby village of Burton-in-Lonsdale was the centre of this rural industry. The pottery is produced in the traditional manner, mainly on the wheel and fired in a gas kiln to stoneware temperatures and sold from the showroom which is on site.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times due to livestock in the adjacent fields. There are many walks direct from the CL for exercising them, two of our favourites are on the banks of the Rivers Wenning and Greta, just ask us for details when you arrive.

It is a very quiet site and has electric hook up points, a shower, WC and washbasin.

Oysterber Farm 

At Lancaster Castle families are welcome but the use of the building by the court does imply that all access is by guided trip, which can be too long for very children being young stay quiet.Children under 5 are free, but parents have to make use of discernment about perhaps the trip is suitable for them. They are doing offer tours designed for kids on Wednesdays at 14:00 throughout the summer getaway and during neighborhood half terms.There are family-friendly workshops at Christmas, and also this year for the full time that is very first Halloween.
