What is it like staying in a Contemporary Yurt?

The simple answer is just imagine taking all of the best bits of camping and losing all of the not so good bits. A Contemporary Yurt is a bright, spacious circular structure consisting of a wooden frame with a lattice wall, a durable, insulated and waterproof fabric cover and a solid locking door.  Our guests love the viewing dome through which as night falls you can relax looking at the sky.   Although generally classified as a tent, a Contemporary Yurt is far more spacious (even for the tallest person), much stronger and weather tight.

Our Large Village Yurts Are Sited In An Informal Village Setting. A Sociable Environment Which Is Ideal For Friends, Families And Groups.

Surround yourself with nature in our peaceful fields. We have beautiful far reaching views of Dartmoor with swallows and skylarks gliding and singing serenely overhead. Add to this stunning sunsets over Dartmoor and clear, starry skies at night. We have peace and tranquility yet without being too far away from, amongst other places, the quirky, bustling, bohemian town of Totnes and the serenity of Dartmouth. Our local pub, serving great food, is only a short walk from the campsite.

Situated between the lake and river, you’ll enjoy views of both, drifting off and waking to the sounds of running water. This pitch gets the shade in the morning; great for cool lie-ins on sunny days!

Belle - Standard Bell Tent

Perched on the ridge, (but sheltered by a tree line,) Barbie overlooks the lake and pine forest. Catches the sun for the longest and latest, and is one of the most private pitches.

Barbie - Standard Bell Tent

Spacious family tent at the top of the camping field, with forest views. Located conveniently close to car park 2 and the toilet/shower block.

Guy - Extra Large Bell Tent

This pitch has fantastic, close-up views of the lake and forest beyond. Its picnic bench and firepit couldn’t be closer to the lake’s edge

Zippy - Standard Bell Tent

This pitch is perched on the hillside, overlooking the lake and Haldon Forest beyond. It’s conveniently located close to car park 2 and the toilet/shower block.

Peggy - Standard Bell Tent

Wake up to the sound of running water from the river, in this family sized tent, nestled between the lake, a pond and the river. This pitch sleeps up to 5 and is located at the bottom of the field, next to a large, level grassy area, making it great for kids. It’s also conveniently located right next to car park 3.

Matt - Large Bell Tent

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the lake on one side and the river on the other from this pitch. Conveniently close to a standpipe and outdoor plug socket!

Great Staple dome sits at the back of the meadow and is fully insulated with a wood-burning stove to keep it toasty. 

Relax on the swing seat in the large decked area. Cook over your own fire pit by the stream, or use the large fully equipped kitchen. 

As always this dome has its own toilet and shower room.

Hound Tor Dome is isolated at the end of the meadow, sleeps 4, and is insulated with a wood-burning stove to keep it toasty.

Like all our Domes it has its own bathroom and toilet.

At Dart Rock Climbing Centre if you should be a beginner, experienced climber, household, birthday party, scout team or school, Dart Rock could be the destination to rise, hang out and meet people that are like-minded. Situated minutes from Devon's arterial A38 with plenty of cycling, walking and bus paths, in addition to sufficient parking, Dart Rock is simple to find.The variety of courses will enable you to experience the thrill of climbing for enough time that is first discover new abilities. Experienced climbers require just register at the centre in the future and use the facilities. Entry costs are for limitless access.There are youngsters' groups on weekends Lizards that is little to 12 year olds Saturday mornings) and Chameleons (12 to 17 yr olds, Sunday mornings) which are great to get perhaps the youngest people climbing. Even Geckos that is small 5) have actually their club on Friday afternoons at 13:00.
