Salterford Dam Certificated Location

Salterford Dam CL is a family run site set on the edge of Sherwood Forest, famous for Robin Hood and the Major Oak. Catering for adults only we are surrounded by tranquil woodland, a wealth of wildlife and we have a lakeside walk to enjoy. Recreational Fishing is also available upon request. We are a newly established site and a must for those who love nature. The site itself has a wide entrance, secured by gates and a combination padlock. There is a hard roadstone drive leading through a large well maintained grassed area. We have a new toilet and shower block for Ladies and Gents with Lighting, heating, sinks and hot showers available.

We are perfectly located for visiting a host of varied attractions, walking, and exploring the many nearby Towns and villages, including the Historic Minster Town of Southwell. The Nearest Village of Calverton (1.7 miles) is where you will find local shops and useful amenities. There is also a great choice of country pubs and restaurants to try in the area. The attractions close to our site begin with Oakmere Park (1.7 miles) a Golf Course offering two free draining heathland courses, locally known as the all weather course. Go back in time at Papplewick Pumping Station (2.2 miles) with two huge Beam Engines. Highly recommended when in steam, most Bank Holidays. With its cooling pond set in beautiful gardens, Blacksmiths workshop, a tour of the old underground reservoir, a café, and much more. What a great day. Patchings Farm Art Centre (2.4 miles) with exhibition programme, classes, supplies and a café. Ramsdale Golf Course (2.5 miles) Good for Pay and Play. Lessons, driving range, Club House, and Pirate Island Crazy Golf also available. Burntstump Country Park (3.2 miles) with pub and Restaurant overlooking the park, they have an outdoor Bar and BBQ area Great in the Summer. White Post Farm Centre (3.5 miles) with lots of different animals to see. Newstead Abbey Park and Gardens (4.2 miles) Once Home to Lord Byron, the Abbey itself is fantastic with its walled gardens, Japenese Garden and Waterfall. Lockwell Hill Activity Centre (4.7 miles) with Off Roading (Buggies and Quad Bikes) Target Shooting, and Archery. You can visit any of these great attractions and many more or just relax and enjoy our unique rural retreat in its idyllic setting.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome however because of the nature of our site dogs will need to be exercised in the specific dog exercise area only and we ask you to kindly keep them in the vicinity of the caravan at all other times.
