The views from every inch of the camping pitches at Oaktree-Lane are truly unbeatable making it the ideal spot to decompress and soak it all up.  Each pitch comes with its very own private shower room with a power shower for a truly luxurious camping experience without any late night queuing for the loo.  Facilities are cleaned and replenished daily for your comfort.

Our camping pitches enjoy a wonderful location in the same luscious green field as our Mongolian Yurt and Lodges.  We welcome only two camping bookings at any one time so you have plenty of room to spread out, never feel over crowded and have beautifully uninterrupted long reaching views across Dartmoor to enjoy during your Devon camping adventure. 

Campers and Glampers alike have full use of the whole of our camping space during their stay including our lovely shared campfire area. Gather the whole family around the fire pit and while away those balmy summer nights, watching the sun dip low over Dartmoor.  Roast your marshmallows, enjoy a cold beer or bring along your instruments and sing some classic camp tunes! 

We have a dedicated parking area to keep Oaktree-Lane safe and free from unnecessary traffic. However, on arrival we welcome you to drive your vehicle into the camping area to unload your kit for the week, let the children out for a good run and pitch up your tent.

You’ll find pillows, sheets, throws and fleeces in your yurt – perfect for getting super cosy! We don’t provide duvets as most like to bring their own but please do enquire if you’d like to hire one from us for ease.

You are guaranteed a wonderfully relaxing stay at **Oak Tree Lane**, a gorgeous campsite on a working farm offering a choice of **camping, glamping and luxurious log cabins**, all surrounded by glorious rolling **Devon** countryside and stunning views. If you want to unwind, connect with nature and stay at an **eco-friendly** campsite where you can switch off - literally - and leave your stresses at the door, then this is the place. With loads to do in the area and a variety of great accommodation on offer, this peaceful and wonderfully run place is a real gem.

Oak Tree Lane has a handful of tent pitches, and each sought-after spot has its own designated shower room, plus a **communal fire pit** for evenings under the stars, and some of the best views in the area.  If you don’t have a tent then book one of the other glamping options available.  Off-grid and bedecked with gorgeous solar fairy lights and lanterns, Oak Tree Lane’s lovely **Mongolian Yurts** sit in a lush green field with gobsmacking views and a private decking to admire them from.  They have a **woodburner** inside for colder nights and can sleep up to six.  Also available to book are their handmade wooden **camping lodges**; sleeping five people in a very cosy - and rather magical looking - octagonal wood-panelled den. Private facilities - a field kitchen and shower room - are just a short walk away.  Or, for a truly luxurious retreat, book one of the two-bedroomed **wooden cabins**; fully central heated and with your own kitchen, shower room, lounge and dining area.  They are very well finished and furnished beautifully and, like the rest of the site, you are surrounded by sweeping countryside views from all angles.

This **family run farm** has a smallholding of sheep, pigs and goats, all happy for visits from any potential young farmers and they roam freely around (not too freely, no need to lock up your sandwiches) in their own fields.  The very welcoming owners - Phil and Sera - go above and beyond to make sure your stay is special, and campers are welcome to help out during feeding time on the farm.  Free range eggs are available from the happy chickens, along with other produce and delicious homegrown meats.

If you want to go further afield and explore the area, you are in a brilliant location to access the coasts of North and South **Devon** as well as being very close to **Cornwall**; in under an hour you can reach the lovely beaches of **Bude** and **Widemouth Bay** on the Cornish coast.  The stunning moorland of **Dartmoor National Park**, with its endless hiking, cycling and horse riding trails is only 12 miles away.  And if you’re looking for some water based activities to keep you busy when you are holidaying at Oak Tree Lane, you don’t need to go far.  Less than a mile away is **Roadford Lake**, one of the biggest watersports hubs in the south west, and here you can **kayak, fish, windsurf or paddleboard**, not to mention plenty of off-the-water stuff too, such as high ropes, archery, cycling and some great walking trails.  

Back at the campsite, recharge, **reconnect with nature** and make the most of the peace and quiet of this lovely spot. Excella, our classic 80's American Airstream was shipped over from the states and now provides a unique glamping experience at Hideaway.  Beautifully restored and very spacious (sleeps up to 5) . The bedroom has a double bed, sink, shower, wardrobe and storage space. The living area has a fully equipped kitchen, fridge, cooker, log burner, sofa bed and seating area which also converts to another bed. There is an adjacent flushing toilet following the retro theme. Our Airstream has heating and air conditioning to keep you comfortable in all weathers and a large decking area out front, perfect for sunbathing, star gazing and cocktails!.

Jabba the Hut

glulu is our brand new, unique glamping igloo with a spacious, unusual, futuristic feel. We wanted something completely different at Hideaway, we were playing around with ideas then spotted a white dome in a field. We found out it was a calf igloo and in a moment of madness bought two! Then the fun began and we slowly transformed the structure into iglulu. Iglulu has a solid oak double bed, cooker, heating, solar powered lighting and bean bags to chill out on. It lives in our 4 acre camping field which has stunning views, a stone circle and plenty of privacy. You can relax around your own fire pit, eat alfresco and watch the shooting stars across the vast sky.

Iglulu is ideal for a couple or a family wanting something a bit different. It would have been a home for up to fifteen calves and is now a holiday experience for up to four humans! Everything you need is provided - you just need to pack your clothes and toiletries to enjoy an alternative glamping holiday!

Our cute ‘Little Owl Pod’ will keep you snug and dry whatever the weather. Perfect for those who

don’t want the hassle of putting up and packing down a tent, especially in the rain. Great for walkers, cyclists and motorcyclists - you can just rock up and chill out!

Inside our Owl Pod you will find a double bed and a top bunk suitable for two children (1.75m x 1.4m), there is also

enough floor space to put an extra bed – so not so little! There is also a folding camping table, four stools and solar lighting. You can bring your own bedding and cooking utensils or you can hire sleeping bags, camping pillows and a box of cutlery and crockery with all you need to eat alfresco.

Little Owl Pod

Each tent pitch is a generous 8 metre square with a fire pit within a 4 acre field. There is a large communal fire in a stone circle in the centre of the field, some well maintained compost loos, a children's play area and a great view. In the adjoining field you will find four friendly pigs, a large pond and a magical fairy glade. The shower block is a short walk with hot showers, flushing loos and communal chill out space. Time spent at Hideaway will bring you babbling brooks and magical woodlands, spacious fields and peaceful walks, swinging hammocks and picnic areas, crackling campfires and starry nights. All of this without even leaving the campsite!

Hideaway Camping is a beautiful, secluded campsite in rural Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor. Nestled snuggly within 24 acres of tranquil countryside, Hideaway is close to the charming market towns of Okehampton and Tavistock and within easy reach of the seaside resort of Bude. Hideaway Camping offers an eclectic mix of camping and glamping opportunities to suit all tastes. Whether you prefer back to basics and pitching your own tent or glamping in a Gypsy caravan, Shepherds hut, Airstream or Igloo, its all here!

Time spent at Hideaway will bring you babbling brooks and magical woodlands, spacious fields and peaceful walks, swinging hammocks and picnic areas, crackling campfires and starry nights. All of this without even leaving the campsite!

Staying at Hideaway offers just what the name promises. The perfect place to let yourself relax, unwind, connect with nature and feel refreshed and revived!

Little Melbury cabin is our communal space which includes 3 showers and 2 flushing loos.  There is a shared kitchen with a  microwave and fridge,  pots and pans , and basic cooking utensils. On wet days You can chill out on the sofa, browse through our selection of books, enjoy a board game and gather information on the local area and tourist attractions. There's a  kids'  corner with books, toys and puzzles etc, and a decking area outside with chairs and a great view.

There are four of us here at Hideaway Camping: Amy, Jenny, Polly and Eddy. We moved from London in 2013 with our children, to escape the rat race and build a new (more peaceful) life.


Our vision was, and still is today, to create a beautiful, unique campsite/retreat where people can relax and unwind, soak up the tranquil setting, breathe in the country air, wander in the woods and gaze at the stars.


Alongside the camping, we will also have on offer a range of complementary therapies and will be offering Art and Craft workshops in the near future.


We are situated at the end of a half-mile private track, seven miles from the town of Okehampton on the edge of Dartmoor - a perfect base to explore the beauty of Devon (see local attractions page). We hope you will come and see for yourselves.

Bamham Farm Cottages

Higher Bamham is located on the outskirts of Launceston, the ancient capital of Cornwall. Our central location makes our cottages the perfect base for your holiday to explore the South West. Everywhere in Cornwall is within easy travelling for day trips whether you are looking to visit some of the 300+ beaches, the South West Coast Path or the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The site enjoys spectacular views right across the Tamar Valley all the way to Dartmoor in one direction and to Launceston town centre and the Castle perched on the hill in the other direction.

Situated in beautiful countryside, the panoramic views from Higher Bamham across the Tamar valley to Dartmoor are superb. Our eight cottages were converted from the 18th century farmhouse and outbuildings and can accommodate between 2 and 6 people each or up to 37 for larger groups, celebrations and special occasions. The play barn / games room provide the perfect base for a relaxing family holiday.

Our family friendly focus gives a great value holiday whether with toddlers and pre-school children out of season or school age children and teenagers during the school holidays. All of the facilities will ensure that parents can relax and enjoy their holiday as much as the children.

Traditional Camping in ‘Sunset View’ is set in a secure 1/2 an acre field which will cater for 5 vans/motorhomes/caravans along with 5 tents.
We do not have designated pitches in this area.  We operate as ‘You choose where you want to pitch’, which also caters for parking next to your pitch.
With large spacious pitches, you will never feel like you are camped so close to your neighbours that you can hear them snoring!!
The field overlooks Hatherleigh Moor and if it’s a clear night you will see the most stunning sunsets from here!
We feel that when you want to go camping, sitting around a fire-pit is a must, so feel free to bring along your raised fire-pit.  If you do not own one, do not panic….. you can hire one from the farmhouse for a small fee plus a refundable deposit once you have returned it. It’s as easy as that!!  There’s no need to pick your bag of wood up from the local garage, we sell bags of wood that we prepare onsite; for sale here, which are cheaper, and you might even be lucky enough to watch how we do it. Please note;
Collecting ‘dead wood’ for your fire is NOT PERMITTED. This goes against or policy to protect wildlife. There are ground nesting birds that may get disturbed and we also ask you to keep to the paths already created so it doesn’t disturb other wildlife’s habitats.

At Westdown Farm we offer Glamping in our Posh ‘Bedz in Shedz’  which are available for rental between 14th of April – 12th of September 2022.
Nestled in ‘Willow Wood’ with fabulous Solar Lighting and a USB charging point for Mobile Phones only, a very comfortable King-size bed which can also be separated to suit a couple of friends wanting a relaxing weekend away. It’s perfect for a very chilled getaway.
Each ‘Posh Bed in a Shed’ comes with your own personal fire-pit.  So, as the evening starts to draw closer you can light the fire-pit, toast your marshmallows and be mesmerized by the gentle flickering of the fire flames.  What more could you ask for?
Comes fully equipped with bedding and cooking utensils, Tea, Coffee and Sugar for that all important morning cuppa, 1 free bag of wood for every night of your stay, so all that’s needed is for you to pack your suitcases, fill your hampers with your favourite camping foods, and let us take care of the rest. The reason we require a refundable security deposit, is to keep the nightly costs down for our customers. So, in the event that something accidentally does gets broken, we are unable to swallow that cost through our nightly charge. We like nothing more than to refund your security deposit at the end of your stay. This means we have some happy Glampers and also a happy Westdown Farm team :).

Our lovely Wild Camping area is set in ‘Mystery Woods’ where you can relax in the peaceful surroundings of the magical whispering trees.
Here you can chill-out around your campfire until its tranquil flames have truly relaxed you.
Although we have accommodated the big 8 man tents at times, wild camping is more designed for tents that are on the smaller scale and minimalistic camping.  So please bear this in mind when deciding which pitch to book. Please note:
There is no access to the woods with vehicles.  You will be parking your car a short distance away from your tent, and transferring your camping equipment to your pitch via a wheelbarrow we provide, or, as a real wild camper would, on your back.  With ‘Wild Camping’ this is just one of the many experiences to enjoy!
Collecting ‘dead wood’ for your fire is NOT PERMITTED. This goes against our policy to protect wildlife. There are ground nesting birds that may get disturbed and we also ask you to keep to the paths already created so it doesn’t disturb other wildlife’s habitats.
The wild camping area is a ‘Dog Free Zone’. If you wish to come camping with your fur babies, please book your pitch in the traditional camping area.

‘MYSTERY WOOD

Here at Westdown Farm we are set in 92 beautiful acres of unspoiled, working farmland in the idyllic countryside of West Devon, just a short distance from Dartmoor.

This is an ideal place for the photographers and wildlife enthusiasts among you as we have over 30 species of butterfly recorded and our fields are rich in wild flowers and grasses.
Westdown Farm is also home to our pedigree herd of British Longhorn Cattle who manage the land by grazing and helping maintain the diversity of the flora which help the butterfly to thrive.

We are an off grid, ECO friendly camping ground, so we do not have electric hook-up. But, we do however charge up your batteries if they need charging!! (this is a free service).
We can cater for traditional campers and caravanners in our CL Campsite where you can enjoy waking up to a stunning view every morning. Alternatively you can enjoy Wild Camping where you can get back to nature in our unspoiled areas.
Also we can cater for rallies/gatherings with your own separate area for privacy.
We are a dog friendly site but all dogs must be kept on leads to ensure the safety of other campers and of course the livestock that live on the farm. (Unfortunately we ensure a no dogs policy with Wild Camping).

Lydford Caravan & Camping Park is a private site affiliated to the Caravan Club. We welcome caravans, motorhomes, folding campers (max shipping length 8.5m) and tents. We offer hard standing or grass pitches with electric hook up plus a separate area for tents offering wonderful panoramic views of Dartmoor. There are also toilet and shower facilities with dedicated dishwashing, laundry, and a disabled toilet/shower wet room. Our small on site shop stocks daily essentials, newspapers to order, and a range of camping items. We are also licensed to sell beers, wines and spirits for consumption off the premises.

Lydford Gorge

For a household that is authentic experience you cannot state fairer (see just what we did there?) than the Dingles Fairground Heritage that is fabulous Centre. It's 45,000 sq ft undercover attraction packed filled with fun exhibits, classic engineering and stunning artwork shows. Nearly guaranteed in full to press every key for some children and hit the nostalgia switch for the accompanying adults too, with additional things from childhood you remembered!You can invest your day sauntering round the working vintage fairground rides having goes on everything you fancy plus stalls and penny arcade than you knew. Throw in a wealth of fabulous fairground art displays, and loads of classic transportation to check out, and you've got a really fun and fascinating day out that the complete family will love, on one level or any other!Highlights include Ghost Train, Joy Wheel, Dodgems, Roundabout and Happy Caterpillar, with plenty of alternatives for all age brackets, but demonstrably do not let the kids be prepared to be flung around wildly, it's completely fun for the old kind that is fashioned!

Both off and on the water with more than 730 acres of water, Roadford Lake is an amazing pond set on the edge of Dartmoor between Okehampton and Launceston providing a wide range of tasks. There is lots to accomplish at this scenic pond including miles of walks, cycle trails, a children's play area and an visitor that is interactive.The Outdoor and Active Centre offers many different watersports including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and canoeing. You'll hire a craft, launch your personal, take part in taster sessions or gain RYA skills. The possibilities are endless!For those that choose to remain dry, then face your worries and move like a monkey from the treetops in the ropes which can be high. Tackle challenges and hurdles raised high above the ground in an adrenalin filled task led by fully qualified instructors. Addititionally there is an internal wall that is climbing archery range.Keep your young ones occupied during the vacations in Activity Weeks, a wonderful means for 8 to 16 year olds to test a range of activities, both on and off the water.
