This friendly little site is in the idyllic rural location of Wolseley Bridge and within easy walking distance to the two coarse fishing pools known as Carney Pools but secluded enough to be private. There is open countryside with panoramic views towards Cannock Chase, with several local attractions to include the National Trust Shugborough Hall, Amerton Farm Play Barn, Cannock Chase Visitor Centre, Wolseley Bridge Garden Centre, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre, Canalside Farm Shop and The National Arboretum.
Carney Pools is a haven for wildlife, you may see woodpeckers, gold finches and the beautiful barn owl at this family site. Our wildlife pools are beautiful to look at and are pleasant to walk round and we have a good reputation with our coarse fishing pools.
The Camping and Caravanning site is open from 1st March to 30th October, with five hard standings/grass pitches together with electric hook ups - this area is for members only.
For all camping and caravanning enthusiasts our six-acre caravan field hosts fourteen electric hook ups, (some with hard standings). The field is well fenced and free draining making it ideal for camping and caravanning whatever time of the year. It is nicely sheltered by a well grown hedge but open enough to catch the sun. The field has beautiful views towards Cannock Chase. It is an ideal field for rallies and events. Pitches are nicely spaced giving everyone ample room, so not to be crowded. The field is fairly flat too.
The site has fully accessible toilets and two showers close to the caravan site. Hot water can be made available for pot washing, so please ask at the check in lodge as we do not have pot washing facilities on site.
We welcome dog owners. Dogs can exercised in the designated dog walk area (on a lead) or you may decide to explore one of the many footpaths/bridle paths in the local countryside. Walking along the canal to the village of Great Haywood, you will find a family run pub which is dog friendly too!
We welcome those of you who enjoy coarse fishing, with pegs available on both pools every day of the year, apart from Christmas.
Milford Common is a great place to visit and enjoy an ice cream, a Wimpey or just relax with a picnic.
Cannock Chase is easily accessed whether it be for mountain biking or a leisurely stroll. It is a classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty AONB with views as far as the eye can see. Why not visit Cannock Chase visitor centre and for more thrills - the "Go Ape" tree top challenge!
Other local attractions include Amerton Craft Centre - with Billy's Play Barn for children of all ages, Hednesford Races and National Arboretum at Alrewas all in easy driving distance.
Carney Pools is less than six miles from Staffordshire County Show Ground, which hosts events throughout the year, with the Staffordshire County Show, dog shows and antique fairs.
