Found in the heart of historic market town of Buckingham, the iconic Old Gaol had been built in 1748 into the type of a castle as a purpose built prison, with later additions in 1839 by the famous designer that is local Gilbert Scott.It is amongst the key visitor tourist attractions of Buckingham with a museum, a tourist information centre, something special store, an additional hand bookstore.Buckingham Old Gaol Museum tells the tale of Buckingham and north dollars rural life, including the Flora Thompson Collection (Lark Rise to Candleford author) and Buckinghamshire Military Trust exhibits. A number of the cells being original area of the museum visitor's experience.Many unique activities are arranged during school breaks for children.
