On approach to the site there are electric gates with a coded entry ensuring our site is secure for your children and dogs.

There is a car park available for parking your vehicles away from the pitch, making the most of your surroundings and spacious pitches.

Locally you will find everything you need for your stay with the local village of Much Wenlock a short distance away.

All electric pitches will have its own coin meter where you put £1 coins in at your leisure.

The **Shropshire Hills** are a wonder to behold; gorgeous green undulating hills, waterfalls, rolling farmland, woods and river valleys. Just on the edge of all this loveliness, only nine miles from **Wenlock Edge** and the woodlands of the Hills sits **Walnut Cottage** **Caravan Park**, a tranquil family run campsite offering a wonderful break in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.  The campsite is a working farm; there are sheep, horses and cows grazing in the surrounding fields, and the farmhouse buildings are Grade II listed, dating back to the 1600’s.  You will be given a wonderfully warm welcome here.
 
The campsite is accessed through a secure gated driveway, making it safe for children and dogs, and once inside the grounds, you will find an **attractive and spacious site** with plenty of room for caravans, motorhomes, campervans and tents, with the option of electricity if you need it.  Facilities include a brand new toilet and shower block - which was renovated in 2021 - with hairdryers, an indoor washing up area including access to a dishwasher and sink, and a laundry room. There are excellent disabled facilities too, with accessible hard standing pitches, an accessible chemical disposal area and separate toilet and shower facilities.  Also onsite is a **good play park **for children to burn off any excess energy, with swings, a climbing frame and a trampoline, and a separate toddler area for the younger ones.  Well behaved dogs are very welcome too.
 
The location of **Walnut Cottage Caravan Park** is excellent.  Just 10 minutes drive away is **Much Wenlock**, a very attractive medieval market town with bags of Georgian and Victorian architecture to admire as you wander around the streets; parts of it feel like it hasn’t changed in years! A short stroll from the town centre is the dramatic ruins of **Wenlock Priory** - now a **National Heritage** property - which is well worth a visit.  Much Wenlock is also your nearest place to stock up on supplies.
The Shropshire Hills themselves are one of the main reasons that people visit this part of the country; this **Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty** is a paradise for ramblers and adventurers alike.  There are countless walking routes, cycling paths and horse riding trails - many of which are part of the **Shropshire Way Circular** - so look out your hiking boots and get exploring this beautiful area.  The endless paths and vast open spaces will take you along meadows, past river valleys, across hilltops and ancient woodlands and through pretty villages.  Aside from hiking the hills, there are countless charming towns to visit; **Ludlow**, the well-known foodie paradise, historic Clun, Ironbridge, Church Stretton, Craven Arms and Whitchurch, just to name a few. There is so much to explore, visit and discover here.
 
Back at **Walnut Cottage**, there is plenty of time for relaxing and lighting up the barbeque in the evening and admiring the beautiful views across the fields and beyond. It is a tranquil and quiet spot and a really fantastic place to go for a countryside break to escape it all.  Guests who stay here consistently give it **excellent reviews**, often with special mentions to the owners, who go out of their way to make your holiday as relaxing and memorable as possible.  A lovely place for a getaway.

We are an independently run 40 acre campsite & fishery, set in AONB within the Shropshire hills. The site is a mixture of meadows, woodland, brooks and lakes.

There are public footpaths and bridleways leading to and from the site and a 10 minute drive from the pubs, cafés, restaurants and supermarket of the local town of Church Stretton, and the popular and heathery hills of the Carding Mill Valley.. A 30 minute drive will allow you access to multiple attractions such as Ludlow Castle, Ironbridge, St Laurence's Church, Ludlow, Stokesay castle, Ludlow race course, Attingham park, Clun castle, Hopton Castle, Wenlock Edge (an 18 mile stretch of woodland) and many other attractions.

We have 3 fishing lakes, suitable for all skill levels - species include multiple variety of carp up to 20lbs+, Sturgeon up to 20lbs+, bream, perch, roach, trout and gudgeon.

Open fires are permitted and actively encouraged, free firepits provided and firewood available to purchase at competitive prices on site (please do not bring your own).

Additional activities and amenities on site include a wild swimming lake (kayaking, paddle boarding etc), ira rifle range and rifle hire, childrens electric quad bike hire, play area including trampoline, swings, slide etc, onsite shop selling camping essentials and fishing goods (including baits) rod hire and tuition also available upon request (tuition subject to availability). We have several shower and toilet blocks, multiple water points and washing facilities.  There is also a communal charging point available FOC for charging phones, ipads etc

Please note there is no hot water on site (with the exception of the showers) and guests are required to bring their own toilet paper. Church Stretton Camp & Fish (Oaklands)

Completed in 2018, the Shepherds Hut offers all modern conveniences such as electricity, hot/cold running water, Kitchen area, en suite shower room, free WiFi, TV and electric wood burning stove.

Sleeping two people, the Shepherds Hut is set in an idyllic location over looking fields, woodland and water and the private decked area with table and chairs offers the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the view and the wildlife.

We are situated between Bridgnorth and Ironbridge, off the B4373, five minutes by car from Bridgnorth.

We are rurally situated and there is only one Shepherds Hut on site, check in is contact-less, all facilities (kitchen & shower room) are inside the hut &                                                                                                     there is a private, fenced, outside space.

The hut is thoroughly cleaned & aired between guests and there is the option to bring your own towels and bedding.

We have been accredited through VisitEngland that 'We're Good To Go' and AA 'Covid Confident' to ensure that we are following industry COVID-19 guidelines to maintain cleanliness and social distancing.

As we are a micro business unfortunately **we are unable to refund or change bookings once made.**

Please bear in mind that we are a working farm and very occasionally **there may be tractors working and noise from sheep.**

Unfortunately **we are not able to accept Dogs as we have livestock in the fields** around the Shepherds Hut.

We **do not** permit smoking anywhere in the Shepherds Hut or grounds.

Shepherds Hut

Just outside the gorgeous **Shropshire Hills**, in between **Bridgnorth** and **Ironbridge**, is the lovely **Hay and Hedgerow Glamping**; an exclusive bolthole for two, situated in a beautiful spot on a working sheep farm.  This bespoke **Shepherd's Hut** is the perfect place to get away from it all, relax, recharge and rejuvenate in idyllic surroundings overlooking fields, woodland and water.  

Newly finished in 2018, the Shepherds Hut is no ordinary camping experience.  It’s a real treat. The hut sleeps two very comfortably indeed in a luxury brass bed, and offers all modern conveniences including mains electricity, hot and cold running water, a kitchen area (with fridge, hob, kettle, toaster microwave and a Belfast sink), ensuite shower and toilet, sofa, TV and a wood burning stove to keep warm on the colder evenings.  The private decking outside has a table and chairs and is the perfect spot for al fresco dining or just sitting and admiring the view.  The kitchen is very well equipped with pots and pans, crockery and cutlery, so all you need to bring is as much food as you want to cook, and possibly a torch to see your way back home after dark; there is not much light pollution here and **stunning starry skies** are a regular feature.  

Nearby, there is lots to do and places to explore.  The Shropshire Hills - an **Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty** - is a great place for hiking, biking and wildlife spotting, with a landscape of hills, moorland and pretty waterfalls.  There are also lovely walks along the **River Severn** and several watersports activities going on if you fancy a spot of canoeing or sailing.  For a more serious hike, **The Wrekin** - one of Shropshires most famous hills - is a steady climb up through the woodlands of Forest Glen to the **Iron Age hillfort** at the summit, with stunning views across the landscape including the iconic Needle’s Eye.
The market towns of Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock are good places to visit for some shopping, and **Ironbridge** - a **UNESCO World Heritage** site - is just ten minutes away in the car and has lots to see and do including the fantastic **Blists Hill Victorian** town.  Here you can take a step back in time a hundred years and visit authentic shops, buy goods from an era gone by and watch the locals working in their workshops and factories.  Or hop aboard the **Severn Valley railway** - a heritage steam train which will take you sixteen miles along the delightful Severn Valley, past Kidderminster, Bewdley and Bridgnorth.  There is also a brilliant locomotive museum at the indoor visitor centre at Highley, an absolute must for train enthusiasts with interactive exhibits, full-size steam locomotives and a play area.

Frankly, if you wanted to stay right by your Shepherds Hut at Hay and Hedgerow and go nowhere then no one would blame you, it is blissful.  One happy glamper called it a “beautiful sanctuary” and that’s a great way to describe this lovely spot.  There are many footpaths and walks around the farm, so you can discover the area right on your doorstep, and the very helpful owners are happy to guide you in the right direction and share all the local sights.  A wonderful place for an outdoor break. 





Hay and Hedgerow Glamping

Looking for a fantastic spot to pitch up your campervan for the night then look no further. With nearly 100 acres of beautiful land, you're sure to find a stunning spot to call your own. With only the stars and the sheep to keep you company, we guarantee you'll have a peaceful holiday in the hills of Shropshire. 

Whilst we think that these pitches are fantastic and offer peace and quiet in remote locations, they do not offer any facilities. For those looking for a little more comfort or conventional camping, these may not be your first choice.

Please bring your own portable camping toilet and remove waste responsibly.



Campervan Pitch

Here, at Hamperley Hideaways we’ve created a space just for you, with our Wild Camping, you are not booking your own camping pitch, you are booking the whole field to yourselves. So, no worrying about the neighbours being too loud - with no one else around in sight nor sound, this area of outstanding natural beauty is all yours to enjoy. And with our contact-free check-in, you can spend the whole trip in peace and quiet. 

With 10 individual camping spots dotted across our farm, there are plenty of choices to suit everyone. Each pitch is set up with a picnic table, fire pit and compost toilet. So all you need to do is pick your favourite spot and bring your tent!

Please, note that whilst we think these spots are fantastic, they may not be to everyone's tastes or requirements. There is no running water, electric or flush-able toilets - if you want a little more comfort during your break we recommend having a look at our Glamping Spaces

Wild Camping

Handmade using an old trailer as a base and salvaged materials from the Farm, the Hut couples a charming interior with an authentic feel. Fitted with just the basics of fire, bed and blankets, The Hut has all you need for your back-to-basic retreat in the hills.

Set alone in a ten-acre field of a small sheep farm, this is a truly remote location. With no one else around to share the panoramic views of the Shropshire countryside, apart from birds and bees-  It's your own private escape.

This cosy, rustic hut is the perfect way to get back to basics. With its own double bed, small kitchenette and wood-burning fire the Hut is the ideal space to get away from the modern world and reclaim the wild in you.  Small, but not confined, the Hut is ideal for cosying up at any time of year.

Because of the remote location of The Hut, and its simple facilities the Hut does not include:

Running Water  (Bottled drinking water is included)

Flushing Toilet (Compost Toilet on site)

On-site parking (short walk through a field)

We believe that this really adds to the authenticity and experience of a stay aimed to get people back into nature and away from modern life. Kick back, relax, and enjoy your barbecue or firepit(available to hire for £5/stay and logs for sale at £5 a bag) and wake up to a freshly baked loaf of bread for £3.50 (if ordered in advance).

There a couple of small food shops within 10 minutes drive of the site, and there are also a few pubs within 10 minutes drive of the site.

At The Edge Adventure Activities enjoy a big range of activities customised for juniors including Quad Biking (minimum age 6) and hill Boarding (from 8), Clay Pigeon Shooting (from 10), Pellet Sniper Range (from 8) and Archery (from 10)!Bookings welcomed, varying timetable and price framework pertains to specific activities so it is very easy to plan every day in accordance with budget, interest, or household routine.
