Add to this stunning sunsets over Dartmoor and clear, starry skies at night. We have peace and tranquility yet without being too far away from, amongst other places, the quirky, bustling, bohemian town of Totnes and the serenity of Dartmouth. Our local pub, serving great food, is only a short walk from the campsite.

What is it like staying in a Contemporary Yurt?

The simple answer is just imagine taking all of the best bits of camping and losing all of the not so good bits. A Contemporary Yurt is a bright, spacious circular structure consisting of a wooden frame with a lattice wall, a durable, insulated and waterproof fabric cover and a solid locking door.  Our guests love the viewing dome through which as night falls you can relax looking at the sky.   Although generally classified as a tent, a Contemporary Yurt is far more spacious (even for the tallest person), much stronger and weather tight.

Our Large Village Yurts Are Sited In An Informal Village Setting. A Sociable Environment Which Is Ideal For Friends, Families And Groups.

Situated between the lake and river, you’ll enjoy views of both, drifting off and waking to the sounds of running water. This pitch gets the shade in the morning; great for cool lie-ins on sunny days!

Belle - Standard Bell Tent

Perched on the ridge, (but sheltered by a tree line,) Barbie overlooks the lake and pine forest. Catches the sun for the longest and latest, and is one of the most private pitches.

Barbie - Standard Bell Tent

Spacious family tent at the top of the camping field, with forest views. Located conveniently close to car park 2 and the toilet/shower block.

Peggy - Standard Bell Tent

Wake up to the sound of running water from the river, in this family sized tent, nestled between the lake, a pond and the river. This pitch sleeps up to 5 and is located at the bottom of the field, next to a large, level grassy area, making it great for kids. It’s also conveniently located right next to car park 3.

Matt - Large Bell Tent

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the lake on one side and the river on the other from this pitch. Conveniently close to a standpipe and outdoor plug socket!

Naturally Glamping

Our facilities are basic and designed to be in keeping with the natural environment they are set in and to ensure they have minimal impact on the land. All totally off-grid, no electric hook-ups, no flushing toilets, just mother nature at her best.

Compost loo’s, heated showers and washing facilities are all offered up in rustic wooden huts, cleaned thoroughly, multiple times every day.  Please consider whether you can cope with compost loo’s before you book! Have a look at our photos below to see if it’s for you. 

- 15 acres of grassy fields for free-range camping.

- Designated quiet camping field.

- 7 compost loos. 3 urinals.

- 5 Hot showers.

- Washing up facility.

- Washing and changing area.

- Multiple water stations located around the site. All water is drinking water.

- Recycling and waste area.

- A small farm shop supplying locally sourced produce such as sausages, eggs, bread as well as other food and drink items and camping essentials. Here you can hire out BBQ’s and fire-pits.

- Freezer space for ice packs.

- Communal hangout barn. An area to chill and relax with others, also a place to head to on those (inevitable) rainy days.

- Animal feeding time – come and feed our little Jersey calves, pet lambs and chickens!
 
- Electrical charging- we do offer the use of power points at reception for charging devices for a small fee.
 
- Dog-friendly. – Furry companions of all sizes are welcome, provided they are kept under control.

The Golden Hind at Brixham is the full sized reproduction of just one of the most iconic vessels from the chronilogical age of exploration being a feature of this harbour that is picturesque 1964 and has an extended history of display appearances. See and have the Captain's and Officers' cabins, exactly how up to 60 guys slept below decks, the weapons, tools, cannons, artefacts through the age of discovery, the ropes hauled by the sailors, the creak of the timbers, the sounds of the crew, treasure, pirates and a whole lot!

Golden Hind with Captain Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the world between 1577 and 1580. The Golden Hind made vital discoveries before returning home with amazing treasures. This ship now offers a fantastic insight into life onboard a 16th century sailing ship and is based in Brixham, Devon the area where Sir Francis
