New for 2022, we are offering camping at Big skies alongside our glamping bell tents. Each pitch is located in the wildflower meadow setting with fantastic sunset and sunrise views. Each pitch includes a fire-pit, log bundles can be purchased either with your booking or from the honesty shop on arrival.

Our camping area is located just a stone's throw from the Cotswold Way so the perfect stopover for weary walkers.

Real comfortable beds with fresh linen and towels and a wood burning stove to keep cosy in the evenings. There's plenty of space for each tent, outdoor seating and firepit (tripod, steel plate, pot with lid and kettle) with simple cooking equipment including cutlery, crockery, colander, tin opener, bottle opener, fish slice, tongs etc. Its all off-grid so there’s no fridge; best to bring a cool box.
Facilities for both grass pitches and bell tents include hot showers, luxury compost loos and washing up hut. We are off-grid here, a few solar lights lead the way but this is a chance to disconnect from the buzz of life. Please note its a 30 minute walk or short drive to the shepherds hut & hot tub field.

We’ll present you with a beautifully selected breakfast hamper including our hens eggs, locally sourced bacon, homemade beans, crumpets  and juice.

Breakfast Hamper

Nothing beats cooking over open fire. We supply a hamper with all you need to create a 3 course meal to remember. Inspired by the Argentine asado style cooking. Just build the fire and follow the instructions - its a leisurely cook so set aside 3 hours. Choose from steak, chicken or vegetarian

Dinner Hamper

The quintessential English cream tea, served in vintage crockery.  Four homemade Scones and jam with clotted cream. A pot of tea, coffee or homemade lemonade. If cake is preferred to scones then let me know

Lunch Hamper

We’ll present you with a beautifully selected breakfast hamper including our hens eggs, locally sourced bacon, homemade beans, crumpets  and juice. If you want to take it up a notch (£25) add local chipolatas, homemade granola & yoghurt, jam and farm honey and seasonal goodies from the garden when available.

Facilities for both grass pitches and bell tents include hot showers, luxury compost loos and washing up hut. We are off-grid here, a few solar lights lead the way but this is a chance to disconnect from the buzz of life. Grass Pitch

Simple, luxe hut with king-sized bed, fine linens, towels, ensuite shower & compost loo, wood burning stove, kitchenette with gas hob and small fridge. Outside is set up to encourage guests to connect with nature, relax in the wood-fired hot tub, kick back in the deckchairs and cook over the firepit. We love cooking over fire and provide each hut with tripod, cast iron fire-cooking equipment. Firepit meal hampers can be added to your stay. We provide two crates of wood for each stay and there's a woodshed with an honesty box to restock. There is parking for each hut by the entrance and guests wheelbarrow their belongings to the huts.

Darnells' Farm Luxury Glamping

A 6 Metre 'Stargarzer' tent with an added 'Airbud' pup so depending on your family grouping, these each sleep anything from two to six people. Furnishings and decor throughout are stylishly top-notch so it's not just proper beds and rugs, but also soft robes, cut flowers, sofas, armchairs and coordinated colours. Outside, you get your own fully equipped cabana-style kitchen. You won't have to bring a thing and attached to this are pristine hot-water shower facilities, loo, and washing-up area. The knives are sharp, the pots and pans un-battered, while dining is at solid tables and chairs on matching crockery with proper glassware.

The 'Mahal' is the showstopper, a simply enormous specimen, the sort of thing a desert potentate might entertain in which sleeps at least eight in four separate rooms, with a whopping 65 square metres of floor space.

At this point, things start to get, well, even more boutique and luxury, for want of better words. Finnish wood-fired hot tub? That's a yes. Hammocks in wooded glades, comfy sun-loungers, and an impressive fire bowl that's almost three-foot across? Yes again. A communal, outdoor honesty bar with its own drink-stocked fridge, firepit, and free-to-use pizza oven is a place to chill, while a potter around the well-tended grounds turns up rose-scented grassy paths, vegetable and herb gardens, orchards, and scratching chickens. It's all extremely well thought out and playful, too, as the invitation to curl up for the night on an outdoor iron bed attests. Ask for a telescope and one will be provided.

Visit Woodchester Mansion, nestled in a beautiful and secluded rural valley close to Stroud in Gloucestershire. Walk around the amazing unfinished Gothic Revival house, admire the architecture and quality of the craftsmanship, and discover why the Mansion was never finished. Adults can learn about how a Gothic house was built and children can look for the 44 carved stone animals in the building. If you're interested in the paranormal you'll be pleased to know that Woodchester Mansion is thought to be haunted - you might spot one of our ghosts! For nature lovers, the attics of the house are home to breeding colonies of rare Greater and Lesser Horseshoe Bats, which can be viewed on our world class CCTV system. Afterwards visit the cafe, then explore the lovely NT owned Woodchester Park (Woodchester Mansion is not a National Trust property).
