Boasting the iron that is earliest built pier in Britain, the sandy, dune backed beach of Ainsdale is considered the main bathing beach of Southport. Land based traction kiting is popular here, since is swimming and windsurfing. Lifeguard cover is Easter to September.The Natural England Nature Reserve offers over 450 plant that is crazy, and wildlife such as sand lizards, great crested newts and natterjack toads. Behind the dunes is a pine wood home to a lot of red squirrels, and a walk that is quick is the town of Ainsdale along with its sailing lake and eating places.The Ainsdale Discovery Centre is nearby.
