Trundle along quiet country lanes in a traditional horse drawn gypsy caravan before camping up at one of our secluded camps where you can cook over an open fire paddle in the streams and immerse yourselves in nature and the great outdoors, before nestling up for the night in the cosy gypsy wagon. When inside a gypsy caravan you will have everything you need to relax and have a gorgeous night's sleep.

You will be on nature's doorstep with your feet up by the woodburner, but the experience of the gypsy caravan starts before the threshold. These caravans are like no other and are built with beauty in mind as much from the outside as within. The gypsy caravans will carry off any photo just by being in the background! 

The caravans are fully insulated and there is plenty of storage. Each wagon has its own BBQ/fire pit and rustic seating.

Wanderlusts offers the only horse drawn gypsy caravan holidays, as well as stationary bow top gypsy wagons (Vardos) in beautiful locations in and around Cumbria and the Eden Valley; a secret gem of tranquility, linking the Lake District National Park with the North Pennines “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”.

With nearly twenty years experience of making, restoring and travelling thousands of miles on the highways and byways of Britain and France in traditional horse drawn gypsy caravans, Barny combined his skills and experiences to create Wanderlusts Retreats and Adventures; a small family business that is run completely off grid!

All of our pitches offer a waterside camping experience with the tranquil sound of the Croglin beck running past. It is the perfect environment to relax and unwind. 

Large spacious pitches, each with its picnic bench and fire pit mean that you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. 

Each camping pitch comes with your fire pit, great for those summer night BBQs.

If you would like to try some of our pasture-fed meat on your BBQ, orders can be placed and collected from our Farm shop. Firewood and other essentials are available to buy too.

'The Old Cow Shed'

Our facilities are located in 'The Old Cow Shed', just a short walk from the main camping area.

In the shed, you will find:

- toilets
- showers
- washing machine
- fridge freezer
- kettle and toaster
- pool table and tennis table

Sleeping 6 people, Big Bertha has everything you need for a luxury stay - a bathroom with a shower and toilet, a well-equipped kitchen, including an oven and fridge freezer.

Outside the airstream overlooking the Croglin Beck, there is a beautiful decking area. This is the perfect place to relax on a summers night by the fire pit.

We are surrounded by the beautiful North Pennine fells with amazing views across the Valley to the Lake District National Park.
Our pitches are situated between our wildlife pond and the Croglin beck that meanders its way through the farm. Here at High Hall, you can always guarantee a waterside stay.

Thacka Lea Caravan Park is located in Penrith, Cumbria which is the heart of the Eden valley and the gateway to the Lake District. It is the perfect base to explore the Lake District and Eden Valley in your touring caravan or motorhome.

We are located at the north end of the small market town of Penrith. Penrith is a historic market town and an attractive tourist centre. Within the town there are many traditional and specialist food, clothing and gift shops as well as many cafes, restaurants and pubs. The museum and castle give a great insight into the history of Penrith. In addition to shopping and history, Penrith has many leisure and sporting facilities to offer as well as good bus and rail transport links for days out around Cumbria.

The toilet and shower block has hot showers and a shaver point. Additional facilities include a washing up area, waste disposal and recycling bins. 

The Park is pet friendly, but dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Thacka Lea Caravan Park

- Heritage offers rustic charm with tones of warm red and tartan. A double cabin bed, ensuite and ample living space with wood burning stove giving it a cosy feel, making it a lovely place to relax and unwind

- From the wrap around deck you can dine alfresco or soak in the hot tub, surrounded by breath taking scenery and at night time star gaze under dark skies.  
- Executive has a double cabin bed to the rear, kitchenette, en suite and double sofa bed in the living area with a wood burning stove.

- Hadrian has a rustic charm yet is bright and airy, with tones of Heather it's designed to  reflect the surrounding moorland, from where the native birds such as Curlews and Lapwings can be heard. 
- Hadrian has a double bed, double sofa bed and mezzanine , en suite facilities and kitchenette.
- The living area is perfect to snuggle up after a fun packed day out and perhaps play one of the provided board games.

Watch the sun rise and fall, listen to nature and the unmistakable cry of the Curlew and Lapwing, watch the farm animals, allow children to experience freedom, dine alfresco and soak away your aches and pains under the stars, all from comfort of your pod.
Make aquantainces with our animals, feed the pigs (Snuffles and Sprout) chickens and ducks. Watch lambs skip in the sun and horses grazing peacefully.
Situated virtually at the centre of Britain you are perfectly sited to explore Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Closer to home is the lovely market Town of Hexham and with in walking distance Allendale, recently voted by The Times Britains second best village to live in.
All our pods are fully serviced to the same high standard offering ensuite facilities, equipped kitchen with microwave, fridge, kettle toaster etc. The double bed has a 2000 spring silent night mattress to ensure a good nights sleep and the sofa bed has a full double sized mattress .The sofa allows six people to sit comfortably as does the table and chairs the decor and layout between the pods may vary they all offer the same level of comfort and luxury.
All have electric heating and log burning stoves to ensure you are warm any time of year.

This lovely romantic retreat is nestled in a spectacular rural position on the world famous Hadrian’s Wall. Relax and enjoy the magnificent views and enjoy the direct walking routes from the property onto Hadrian’s Walk. Located only a short drive from the historic market town of Brampton and within easy reach of the city of Carlisle, with its excellent leisure and shopping facilities. Visit Talkin Tarn Country Park, for water sports such as canoeing and open water swimming. Explore Gelt Woods which is an ancient woodland with the River Gelt running through. Discover the Roman ruins at Housesteads, Birdoswald and Vindolanda. Close to the stunning Northern Lakes, Eden Valley and the rugged Scottish Borders.

Through the enclosed garden, you are met with this delightful lodge pod. Perfect for a luxurious romantic glamping experience. On entering the property you will find the comfortable sleeping area with a double bed to the rear of the pod. The lounge area with TV, is the perfect place to relax after a day out exploring the local area. There is a dining table with seating, ideal for romantic gatherings. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric single ring hob, fridge/freezer and microwave. Next, through the door you will find the spacious shower room with shower and WC.

Venturing outside is the private decked area with seating where you can enjoy the magnificent countryside views across Hadrian’s Walk or take a relaxing dip in the hot tub. This is a perfect area for al fresco dining or perhaps enjoy a nice glass of wine or a good local ale. You may also get the opportunity to spot the regular visitors including deer, red squirrels, barn owls, hare, rabbits, red kite and lots of garden birds. There is ample off-road parking available for the property.

Headswood Farm has a most enviable position situated directly on Hadrian s Wall and offers four glorious luxury, individually decorated, en-suite micro-lodges that can be booked from as little as a single night. Our newly-built micro lodges are fully kitted-out, insulated and heated pods with en-suite shower rooms and mini kitchens, Freeview TV and free WiFi. Each is designed to sleep two people plus one dog. Headswood Farm, built in the 1700 s, actually straddles part of Hadrian s Wall (between miles 56 and 57), in a rural location, about 12 miles east of Carlisle and is a great place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Melmerby Caravan Park is a small peaceful park, with caravans for sale and is set amongst the stunning scenery at the foot of the Pennines, Cumbria.


Lazonby children's pool is a life saver in the hot: a 17m by 6m pool that is outside to a comfy 26 degrees, it is well suited for both a household splash about or some serious workout: it's your responsibility! It's a fairly quiet facility therefore it is ideal for young kids getting their very first lido experience, there is perhaps not public of traffic or unseemly interruptions. They don't really appear to run enjoyable sessions but water swimming and polo lessons are apparently available.  Lazonby pool is a registered charity and a valued community resource and run by volunteers plus lifeguards which are professional make sure your family's safety.  There are solar driven showers for a short while later that will fascinate the smalls (i am showering with sunlight!) and a relatively roomy usage that is multi is readily available for games and picnics, with a campsite also adjacent which welcomes families.
