Built in the 18th century, it is the birthplace of Arthur Anderson, co-founder of the P&O Shipping company. The Shetland Textile Museum hosts a Collection of historic and modern Shetland textiles. Displays include examples of Fair Isle and lace knitting, as well as a restored working loom, highlighting Shetland's tweed industry. It annually hosts a Degree Show by pupils from Shetland College. It also provides demonstrations, workshops, talks, and a shop which showcases the best of work by local makers.
