Caravan / Motorhome without Electricity - Grass

Thacka Lea Caravan Park is located in Penrith, Cumbria which is the heart of the Eden valley and the gateway to the Lake District. It is the perfect base to explore the Lake District and Eden Valley in your touring caravan or motorhome.

We are located at the north end of the small market town of Penrith. Penrith is a historic market town and an attractive tourist centre. Within the town there are many traditional and specialist food, clothing and gift shops as well as many cafes, restaurants and pubs. The museum and castle give a great insight into the history of Penrith. In addition to shopping and history, Penrith has many leisure and sporting facilities to offer as well as good bus and rail transport links for days out around Cumbria.

The toilet and shower block has hot showers and a shaver point. Additional facilities include a washing up area, waste disposal and recycling bins. 

The Park is pet friendly, but dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Trundle along quiet country lanes in a traditional horse drawn gypsy caravan before camping up at one of our secluded camps where you can cook over an open fire paddle in the streams and immerse yourselves in nature and the great outdoors, before nestling up for the night in the cosy gypsy wagon. When inside a gypsy caravan you will have everything you need to relax and have a gorgeous night's sleep.

You will be on nature's doorstep with your feet up by the woodburner, but the experience of the gypsy caravan starts before the threshold. These caravans are like no other and are built with beauty in mind as much from the outside as within. The gypsy caravans will carry off any photo just by being in the background! 

The caravans are fully insulated and there is plenty of storage. Each wagon has its own BBQ/fire pit and rustic seating.

Longsleddale, Cumbria – St Mary’s

We are tucked in between the Lake District and the Pennines. The area is an attraction in its own right as well as giving easy access to the mountains and moors on either side. We welcome couples and families to our Camp Site which can accommodate up to 24 caravans, camper vans or tents, spread over two fields.

Abbott Lodge is a dairy that is working which creates over 30 flavours of homemade Jersey ice cream, of which whenever you want an astonishing 16 kinds can be found on site! Site visitors also can check out their Jersey Cows and calves into the field that is nearby learn about their exceptional work with the Countryside Stewardship Scheme.Kids may have some fun and work from the sugar into the interior and outdoor play areas too! They truly are pretty little but the equipment is great and each assists that are little!
