

With no club and no pool, people who come to Fen Farm do so for the tranquil atmosphere and children often surprise themselves by finding an occupation that does not involve anything being switched on or booted up!

There are always the play areas with swings, seesaws, climbing frames etc. In addition to this, children enjoy ‘crabbing’ in the creeks, playing on the beach or in the sea. We also have an open field for ball games, flying kites or just walking the dog.

Dogs are welcome and there are dog walks all around the park. There are also many footpath walks nearby as well as a dog friendly beach. Ideal for people looking for a quiet family retreat, situated by the sea and close to a country park in a small village on Mersea Island. The Farm has been owned by the Lord family since 1918 and the first tents were pitched in 1923, so the park has grown rather than been developed.


Our aim is to run a peaceful, tranquil park therefore we do not accept bookings of 3 or more pitches. A group is defined by the number of units not the number of people in each unit. We politely ask that people do not make separate bookings and then form a group on arrival or congregate together on site during their stay.

Unfortunately, due to previous experience, we cannot accept bookings of groups of people under 21.

Superb 2 bedroom Safari Tent with kitchen, sitting/dining area and private shower and WC. Fully equipped with kitchen utensils, cooking equipment and everything you need for a fabulous stay. All you need to bring is your own bedding!

Situated so that you can enjoy an evening drink on your own private veranda, looking out over the pond.

We have the brilliant Helsport Valhall tents (subject to availabilty) on site, with electric hookup available on arrangement. Developed for extreme weather, its design and build ensures it is warm and functional whatever time of the year you stay. The Valhall features three distinct areas which are separated by inner tent walls. The price includes rental of the tent and pitch – and up to 4 adults on the pitch (no limit on number of children). Please note that whilst we do accomodate for 1 night stays, you will still be charged the amount for 2 nights.

You'll have the chance to see two iron cast lighthouses, the slot of Felixstowe and Hamford liquid National Nature Reserve.A sluggish time during the beach is a firm family favourite - just unwind and revel in sunlight to the sound of kids playing and waves washing in the coast with a quiet Woosh. Want more fun? A boating lake and a skate park at Dovercourt Bay Beach  you will find model yacht pond. How's that for entertainment!
