Lockwood House is located in the popular Devon tourist town of Dawlish, directly opposite Dawlish Countryside Park. A Caravan and Camping Club certificated site with two self-catering holiday cottages. It makes a fantastic base from which to explore and is the ideal location for a quiet getaway.

We are open all year round! Stay in one of our self-catering holiday cottages or pitch up on our Camping and Caravanning members only campsite.


Lockwood House Campsite

Situated between the lake and river, you’ll enjoy views of both, drifting off and waking to the sounds of running water. This pitch gets the shade in the morning; great for cool lie-ins on sunny days!

Group bookings of 3 or more adults are not permitted.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Belle - Standard Bell Tent

Perched on the ridge, (but sheltered by a tree line,) Barbie overlooks the lake and pine forest. Catches the sun for the longest and latest, and is one of the most private pitches.

Barbie - Standard Bell Tent

Spacious family tent at the top of the camping field, with forest views. Located conveniently close to car park 2 and the toilet/shower block.

Guy - Extra Large Bell Tent

This pitch has fantastic, close-up views of the lake and forest beyond. Its picnic bench and firepit couldn’t be closer to the lake’s edge

Zippy - Standard Bell Tent

This pitch is perched on the hillside, overlooking the lake and Haldon Forest beyond. It’s conveniently located close to car park 2 and the toilet/shower block.

Peggy - Standard Bell Tent

Wake up to the sound of running water from the river, in this family sized tent, nestled between the lake, a pond and the river. This pitch sleeps up to 5 and is located at the bottom of the field, next to a large, level grassy area, making it great for kids. It’s also conveniently located right next to car park 3.

Matt - Large Bell Tent

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the lake on one side and the river on the other from this pitch. Conveniently close to a standpipe and outdoor plug socket!

Porcha - Standard Bell Tent

This pitch has fantastic, close-up views of the lake and forest beyond. Its picnic bench and firepit couldn’t be closer to the lake’s edge.

Dec - Standard Bell Tent

Looking for cosy couples’ getaways under canvas or an adventure packed weekend with friends? Get away from the hustle and bustle and stay in a beautiful bell tent in the Devon countryside. Set up, ready for your arrival, glamping is the perfect way to camp! This peaceful home away from home, with lakeside views and woodland walks makes for splendidly soothing hols.

The sloping meadow, with levelled pitches, offers breath-taking views. A stream meanders down the hillside from a small pond at the top, down to a lake at the bottom of the field, connecting to a river in the valley below. A vast wall of trees, and miles of woodland walks in Haldon forest lies beyond!

This secluded site is something of a wildlife haven. With no site lighting, and minimal (solar) lighting at the pitches, it’s perfect for spotting glow worms and bats at night. Here you’ll have access to uninterrupted vistas of trees, a fishing lake and a small river, and miles of woodland forest trails. (Which connect up to a choice of different pubs within 30 mins walk.) Or go for a wander to say hello to the horses living on the farm. 

There are never more than 10 pitches in the 2.5 acre field (even on a busy summer holiday weekend), so there is plenty of space. Bell tents are spaced a minimum of 10 metres apart from one another, for your privacy.

If you have friends/family that would like to join, message us for availability and we’ll aim to arrange you to stay in pitches close to one another.

The tents can squeeze another single bed in too, if you have a 3rd person (at a small extra fee).

DOGS: Dogs are allowed, but the site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

PARKING/ACCESS: We have 3 different car parks. For 4×4 owners and braver drivers, there’s parking very close to pitches. For others, access from the main car park involves a 200-metre walk down a steep track, which can be slippery at times. (Wheelbarrows provided for your gear.)

Please note, this site is not suitable for the less able.

The tents are self check in, but good signage and a site map should enable you to find your pitch on your own.

(We provide a contact number for any inquiries and there is someone on-site in case of emergencies.)

Please note there is a lot of water around (stream, pond, small lake and river) and you are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of any children that you bring.

The site is on a working farm and there are lots of horses around.

For your stay

Naturally Glamping

The Little Harford woodland pod is a cosy glamping retreat deep in the woodland, featuring a woodburner and fairy lights for a rustic, comfortable stay. Provided amenities include bedding, crockery, basic cooking pots and utensils, a camping gas ring, a firepit, and a small portable power station. Guests must bring their own provisions.

The off-grid setup ensures no Wi-Fi or phone signal, allowing for a peaceful escape.

The campsite is equipped with compost toilets, an off-grid gas shower, and a washing-up area. This setup offers a unique opportunity to disconnect and enjoy nature.


2 Person Pod

Cleaning

A winding path leads down to where the land levels out at the water meadow area of the woodland. A family of buzzards live in the valley and you can often hear owls, pheasants and wild birds. There is parking at the entrance to the lower woodland on hard standing. A couple of compost toilets are available for all No.2’s and mindful wild peeing is encouraged. Tapped water is available from an outside tap at the property for drinking water and there is a new gas fired shower as well as washing up area. Campfires are allowed and seasoned wood can be purchased at a small extra cost.



We only offer a very limited number of camping spots at any time to preserve the tranquility for everyone. There is room for a couple of Campervans to park on the hard standing.

Wild Camping

The campervan pitch at Little Harford campsite is located at the top of the woodland, on a hardstanding area. Vehicles, including those for tents, park here as the paths to the main campground are too narrow for vehicles, ensuring a peaceful, almost wild camping experience. The campsite is off-grid, with no wifi or phone signal, offering a true escape into nature. Facilities include compost toilets and a newly built off-grid gas-fired shower. 


Campervan Pitch Hardstanding

Little Harford is a tranquil place for anyone wanting to find peace and quiet. A winding path in the Lower Woodland leads down to a water meadow where you’ll find a meandering river. Surrounded by farmland, narrow lanes, tall hedgerows, and rolling hills, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind. We currently offer B&B guest accommodation and woodland camping.

Little Harford

Hunters Lodge Caravan & Camping Site  Starcross, Nr Dawlish, Exeter, South Devon 
Hunters Lodge is a small Adults Only Freedom Camping Certified site located on the outskirts of the small Estuary Village of Starcross. Set in 10 acres of its own ground, Hunters Lodge is the ideal location for a quiet getaway. Enjoy being close to nature whilst listening to the babbling brook, keep an eye out for the owls that can be heard at night, deer can even be spotted in the opposite field or the kingfisher that visits the lake daily.

Topsham pool is at one's heart of the picturesque and historic slot of Topsham, providing a sublime swim experience that is outdoor. You can also enjoy it with all the first light of day in the event that you join the Nutters' Club for 06:00!Open from May to September, the pool welcomes locals, site visitors, a swimming that is thriving plus the morning Nutters. It's heated, is accessed by a set of tiled steps, and ranges from an 1m end that is superficial a 3 metre deep end.The ever-popular giant inflatable, household float sessions, adults-only swim sessions, private hire, plus spectator seating and lounging at the poolside make a visit to Topsham Pool element of outstanding outing for all the family! For you and yours.The tiled pool measures 25m x 10m, with a shallow end of 1m and a deep end of 3m for the more adventurous whether you would like peaceful skill building, crazy fun or something like that in involving the 2 there's an occasion and a spot here. Heating equipment is augmented by roof-mounted solar panels, that is well worth pointing out to your environmentalists that are tiny!
