About This Activity

The Observatory Gifted to your folks of Paisley by Thomas Coats and designed by Glasgow Architect John Honeyman, Coats Observatory opened in 1883 and has been everybody that is welcoming a pursuit in astronomy from the time. The observatory is available for night sky telescope viewing depending on the climate during the winter months. These sessions are free and there's no have to book. The telescope is trained regarding the moon, the planets and other interesting places in the sky on clear nights. In the event that climate is bad: telescope viewings, whether night sky or solar, need clear skies and wind that is low. If a scheduled telescope watching can not go ahead for a few good reason, options like planetarium shows are arranged. The Observatory has installed a state-of-the-art Planetarium, purchased by the Thomas Coats bequest, allowing visitors to take pleasure in the miracles associated with sky through the convenience of the chair night. This new planetarium can project thousands of stars in an accurate representation for the night sky highlighting constellations and zooming in on items too faint to be seen except through a telescope that is powerful.
