**Back Door – Porch/Utility**

In older times all family members used the back door and visitors entered through the front door.  At Fia Cottage the back door serves as the main door because the car park is so near.  The back porch doubles as a well-equipped utility room with all the facilities needed for laundering your clothes.  A garden shed is to the side of the drying green – handy for storing fishing rods, wellie boots, cycles etc

A door leads from the back porch to a remarkably spacious bathroom complete with bath/shower, toilet and sink.  A heated towel rail warms your towels and a small fan heater provides extra heat if required.  Perfect for a long relaxing soak in an extra warm bathroom

**Front Door – Sun Porch**

The small enclosed garden at the front is accessed through the front porch, but this can be used as your main entrance if preferred.  The porch itself is quite small, but visitors have told us that they loved having their morning cup of tea in there.  There is just enough room for a couple of chairs and a small coffee table.  Looking up towards Ringesta around 4 pm daily, you may see the parade of the milking cows being taken from their pasture to the farm for milking

**Semi Open-plan Kitchen/sitting room**

The kitchen is white and styled to keep the country cottage look, with beautiful metallic tiles reflecting the surrounding colours

Round the corner is a cosy lounge, with a multi-fuel stove and comfortable leather couches.  Included here are Satellite TV, a DVD player and unlimited internet access

**Upstairs/bedrooms**

The staircase leads up to a spacious open-plan double bedroom and a large twin bedroom – access to the stairs is via the open-plan bedroom.  Both bedrooms have good quality beds, mattresses and Sanderson’s ‘retro’ bed-linen.  A comfortable bed is important as the Shetland fresh air is known to make you just that little bit more tired than usual, after a long day out.  A good night’s sleep is especially important when on holiday

We offer full bed linen and towel change at no extra charge for stays of two weeks or more.  Settling down to sleep in fresh clean linen is conducive to good sleep

Hoswick Visitor Centre Visitors Centre and museum open might to September with a cafe, gift store, weaving displays, interpretative history that is local and a big collection of vintage radios. It's situated in Hoswick with lots to explore outside and well known for the indigenous and wildlife that is migrant particularly the Killer Whales (Orcas) that frequently regular the Bays nearby. This Visitors Centre provides a focus that is fantastic research plus gives you some welcome respite from island climate too!
