Lower Penderleath Farm

Lower Penderleath Farm Hostel and Camping, St.Ives Cornwall, Cornwall TR26 3AF, England

About this place

Tents and small campervans only at this picturesque Cornish campsite, which will suit you just fine if you’ve got a small camper and love sites that aren’t overcrowded with motorhomes the size of Bournemouth. And if you sometimes feel like a camping cheat with a van instead of canvas, you’ll find mingling discreetly with the tents in a cable-free campsite, is bliss.

It is located about three miles from St Ives and 5 miles from Penzance; nice and close to all the wonderful things to do in Cornwall but safely tucked into the quiet countryside and away from any bustle (not that there is much bustle in Cornwall). You can choose where you would like to pitch up in one of the rolling green fields surrounded by glorious countryside and wildlife aplenty. It has all the facilities you need from an uncomplicated site: toilet and shower blocks, washing up facilities, fire pit hire (but bring your own wood) and an area for rinsing wetsuits - immensely useful should you have just staggered in from the surf. There is always bags of hot water for warming up after a day out and about. The water on site has “natural mineral water” status which sounds like something close to healing waters to me and with all those extra minerals, it might well be. It is a quiet family campsite - no noise after ten - so if it's a late night party you want, then probably best to camp elsewhere.

Close to Lower Penderleath Campsite there is a whole host of things to see and do. A great trip in this neck of the woods is the journey out to Gwithian and the Godrevy Lighthouse. Park up at the National Trust car park and walk along the beach to the lighthouse; just past Godrevy Head you will see Mutton Cove which is home to a large colony of grey seals. If you are a wildlife lover, take a boat trip from St Ives to see dolphins or head out to Seal Island for more seal spotting. 20 minutes drive from the campsite in the other direction you can visit Marazion - home of St Michaels Mount - and the quaint fishing village of Mousehole. Those looking for some surf should head out on the water at the beaches of Sennen, St Ives, Hayle or Praa Sands.

At the end of a busy day, light the barbeque and enjoy the dazzling evening sunsets from your spot at Lower Penderleath Farm, or if you don’t want to cook, there is a lovely pub just a 15 minute stoll away. What more do you need?
