Everyone is welcome at Sunnymead Farm, a small friendly, family-run camp site with 4 AA pennants set in four acres of glorious North Devon countryside only a few minutes drive from Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. We invite you to come and relax whilst enjoying outstanding views and fabulous sunsets over the fields towards the sea. If it s a holiday without the hustle and bustle of oversized camp sites you want, then look no further, plus we welcome dogs free of charge.

The pitches are level and from many pitches you can see over the fields towards Lee Bay and the Welsh coast beyond.

The centre of the 3 camping areas is left open for children to play and the rally area is open for all to use for ball games in the summer.

Hidden away in the North Devon countryside, a treat awaits.  Only a short drive away from some of Devon’s most gorgeous sandy beaches is a family run dairy farm with some rather beautiful glamping accommodation.  The owners have created an absolute oasis here; a small and secluded glamping site, set in a sheltered field with a small, seasonal stream meandering through. There are only three boutique Lotus belle tents - each which sleep four people very comfortably indeed - so you can be sure of a quiet and relaxing stay. (A small single mattress or travel cot can be provided for a 5th little person).  Each tent is positioned in its own area of the field with a good sized outdoor seating area, a wood burning stove and a firepit - perfect for sitting around and keeping cosy in the evenings.  There is a private outdoor kitchen area with a gas barbeque, cooking equipment and crockery, and each tent also has its own shower and toilet.  Inside the belle tent, everything is made up and ready, with beautiful bedding, fairy lights and pretty furnishings…so you can just arrive, unpack and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.  The site is car-free (wheelbarrow your things in!) and off-grid, so kids can roam happily….and in the evenings, a lack of light pollution means beautifully starry skies.  There is also a play barn, packed with activities and games to play, as well as dining tables and chairs, a fridge and other things to make your stay stress free.  It is a wonderful place, a place to get away from it all, relax, unwind and appreciate all that is lovely about the outdoors.  Cheglinch Farm is teeming with local wildlife, not to mention all the farm animals; you might be lucky enough to watch the new calves being fed, collect eggs from the chickens or meet the resident guinea pigs.  And if you do want a day at the beach you are absolutely spoilt for choice here, with Ilfracombe just a few minutes drive away and the sandy shores of Woolacombe, the surf mecca of Croyde and Saunton also very close by.  A fantastic glamping site in a beautiful part of Devon.

For a more old fashioned and wild camping experience, we have our pop-up campsite at a different location on the outskirts of the farm - Cheglinch Camping - which is open for a short time in the summer.  We have fire pits, toilets and drinking water but no showers; this is a wonderful back to basics camping experience!  Either bring your own tent or book one of our pre-pitched, unfurnished Lotus Belle Tents.

As this is a completely rural location, well away from houses and amenities, the facilities are basic allowing you to experience true wild camping.  A main’s water tap providing fresh drinking water, a sink with cold water for washing up and toilet facilities are provided.  Showers are not available but you are welcome to bring your own portable one.

Extremely generously sized unmarked pitches so you can choose your favourite location. Up to 6 adults are allowed per pitch, booking a pitch includes two adults, a car and a dog.

Cheglinch Camping

If you long for the days of good old fashioned camping, without all the bells, whistles and over manicured pitches, then wind your way through the rolling Devon countryside and settle yourselves into this absolute gem.  The rural setting is home to Cheglinch Farm Wild Camping, a campsite on the outskirts of a working farm and open only for a short time over the summer months, before returning back to agricultural farmland.  This lovely unspoiled spot is a taste of what camping used to be, where you can simply bring your tent, set up where you choose in a field unmarked by fenced off pitches, and enjoy stunning, far reaching views across the countryside.  Cows graze in the fields nearby and children are free to run about to their heart’s content.  You’ll need to bring all your own camping gear (although you can hire firepits) but provided here is exactly what you need and nothing more: a drinking water tap, toilet facilities and a sink to wash up; so for those looking for a truly authentic camping affair, this is it.  No showers, but with several excellent swimming beaches very close by on Devon’s beautiful coastline, it’s one exception that’s well worth making.  And you can always bring your own.  What you do get in return is a completely rural location - far away from the farm’s sister glamping site and other facilities - and space and tranquillity to enjoy something that many of us strive for every day.  The chance to just sit, relax, make a barbeque and watch the sun go down in a properly “wild” location.  With the gorgeous sandy beaches of Woolcoombe, Saunton, Ilfracombe and Croyde nearby, you have the beauty of both coastal and countryside settings.  And if you want to travel further afield, Exmoor National Park is only a 30 minute drive away. 
Also good to note that if you love the idea of wild camping here but you don't have a tent, you can hire one of their beautiful pre-erected Lotus Belle tents which are 5 metres in diameter and super spacious.  You'll still need to bring all your things for the inside, but the tricky bit is done for you!

Our venue showcases a great range of wvwning entertainment during high season, and hosts events and shows too. we also have an impressive sport sports hall with net games such as badminton, table tennis and more. Older kids and adults can enjoy pitting their wits against a range of games in our amusement arcade.

During high season, we have fun kids' clubs for both younger and older kids, which are free for guests.

One of Devon's best summer that is liked with wide sands for coastline games, dunes for hide and seek, and rock pools for marine life.There's a lighthouse on Lundy island visible from the coastline and you can get a motorboat journey on the market from nearby Ilfracombe. Barefoot Surf School is a family run centre based in beautiful North Devon (near the classic surf beaches of Croyde, Woolacombe, Saunton and Putsborough). All lessons are held at Putsborough Sands, the safest and best learner beach in North Devon. Quieter and more spacious than the busy beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe, yet just a mile or two away.

The 90 minute family surf sessions are available as standard for 4 persons (eg. 2 adults and 2 children from one family) and one extra person from the household can be added for &pound;25 a head. These sessions cover the essential safety factors and take you carefully, step by step through the skills, building confidence, and showing you how to enjoy the waves. Culminating in smooth pop-ups - getting you to your feet, using a technique developed to suit you, and riding the wave in& standing!

We have built a reputation that we are very proud of, for patience and treating every customer as an individual. We try desperately to avoid a one size fits all approach, and make every lesson a really fun session. We specialise in beginners.

Meeting up 10 minutes before (to find a perfectly fitting wetsuit) at the bottom right hand side corner of the car park at Putsborough (look out for our black VW van and trailer!), we take our group down the beach and find a quiet area to run through everything... and get Surfing!

Barefoot Surf School offer a hire facility for Surfboards, Wetsuits and Sandboards. This is available to customers who have had a beginners lesson with us and are therefore familiar with the safety aspects of surfing.

We are continually increasing our range of kit to cater for all levels of experience and individual needs.

Surfboards: Softboards, the latest epoxy core semi-softtops, fibre glass moulded and custom shortboards, minmals and longboards. Even some surfcraft you may not have tried before!: Inflatable surfmats, racing Mals (Surf Lifesaving Paddleboards), Stand-up paddleboards and C4 carbon fibre paddles, Alaias (Hawaiian finless boards shaped from Paulownia wood) in a variety of sizes and shapes. Pod bodysurfing tools (a handheld hydrofoil).

Wetsuits: Spring and Winter wetsuits, boots, gloves and hoods.

Sandboarding kit: Sandboards (for both regular and goofy foot), sit down boards, sand discs and helmets.

1:1 or 2:1 Surf Lessons
Barefoot Surf School's 1 to 1 (1 Participant to 1 Instructor) or 2 to 1 surf lessons will help you progress faster, refine your technique and master new moves, whether you already surf, and want to take your surfing to the next level, or are a complete beginner. With over 25 years of coaching experience, Barefoot Surf School can help you move to the next stage!

We are continually being told by customers that what makes us different is our enthusiasm and patience. The truth is, we love what we do - the buzz (or stoke in surfer speak!) when someone stands and rides a wave in for the first time is contagious, and even after 25 years of coaching, we still get as much pleasure sharing it with you.

The experience of a Private 1:1 or 2:1 lesson allows us to focus entirely on your surfing and progression. Sessions are 90 minutes long and we're able to provide you with more personal advice and direct feedback than a larger group lesson, which in turn helps you improve wave upon wave.

Stand Up Paddleboard Lessons (SUP)
Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a fairly recent sport in the UK, although based on the skills of the 'Hawaiian Beachboys' of the 1920s. A large board is paddled with a single paddle and is a great form of exercise that can be practiced anywhere there is a stretch of water; Surf, open sea, lakes, rivers and harbours.

We have been importing Pohaku and C4 carbon fibre paddles since 2006, which makes us one of the first companies in the country to do it (when we first started there wasn't even a shaper making boards, so we tried using big old windsurf boards - it didn't work too well, but we had a lot of fun trying!). Now the sport is one of the fastest growing watersports in the World and famously has a great celebrity following.

We are also able to hire kit to those who can demonstrate SUP experience, at &pound;35 a day for board and paddle. Safety is always our top priority and SUP, with big heavy boards, has the potential for causing a lot of damage. We only use Red Paddle Co Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboards and only hire out on small days, setting strict terms of hire.

S.U.P sessions require a minimum booking of two persons (and maximum of 5 people in a group).

Sandboarding Lessons
Sandboarding is a great sport utilising a lot of the skills and thrills of Surfing, Snowboarding and Skateboarding. Originated by the ancient Chinese using leather, wood and terracotta boards, the sport has really only become popular again in the last 20 years. We have probably been the leading exponents in the UK, developing our own boards and teaching people not only to ride them, but how to protect the delicate eco-system of the dunes, and to minimise the human impact on them.

Sandboarding is similar to Snowboarding, in that you stand on a board and ride down a slope - only with Sandboarding you can wear shorts or a bikini and there are few trees to run into! We have travelled extensively playing and testing our own products - One of our favourite dunes being the Dune da Pyla in S.W France - Europe's largest at more than 330 feet - very fast and with little or no run out at the bottom - A real adrenalin rush!

Sandboarding sessions are 90 minutes in duration and include board and safety equipment. We are the only Sandboarding school in the UK recognised by the World Governing Body.

Minimum groups of 2 people are required for a booking (maximum of 5 in a session).
