We are small, peaceful and pretty site, with three lakes, dog walking area and a nature area onsite. We are a fourth generation farming family who farm nearby the site.  Over the years we have loved walking the farmland and lakes. Its our place of happiness! We want to share this place so that other couples and families can enjoy it as we so often do! With open views of farmland to the West and 367 acres of Woodland to the right, you have the perfect setting for finding contentment.

The lakes are perfect for enjoying a picnic whilst watching the moor-hens, ducks, geese or deer who often call for a drink early in the morning!

Old York Forest caravan site in East Yorkshire is open all year round. We are 15 minutes dive from the City of York on the edge of 367 acres of peaceful woodland called Allerthorpe Woods. This includes 22 acres of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve called Allerthorpe Common. If you are looking to re-connect with nature, climb a tree, catch a fish or simply find some peace & tranquillity in the surroundings of farmland & adjacent woodland , Old York Forest is perfect for you.

We welcome families, couples or individuals, and of course any four-legged well-behaved friends, too!

Brand New Cottages built within the Grounds of The Old Coach House.

Light , airy and spacious. These semi detached cottages have large open plan living spaces downstairs with a quirky cottage feel upstairs. We have chosen to hire them as a pair as it makes them perfect for large families, groups and parties. The two cottages with allow all 14 to be seated and dined in one room means which means they are perfect for a celebration whilst allowing privacy when necessary. This works well if there are different age groups in the party or if some of the party wish to go get up early / go to bed early and require extra peace and quiet!

The kitchens  in both cottages allow for the best of Sunday Roasts to be served at the banqueting table and enjoyed by everyone in one cottage.

Large lounge seating areas with a supply of fluffy blankets to snuggle up in ensures that everyone can sit together in one cottage, unwind, drink prosecco and chat!

Ten minutes drive from the outskirts of York. Buses from York city centre every twenty minutes, however please allow up to a 30 minute journey as traffic in York centre is very busy. (Buses stop directly outside the house)

The West Wing is a large luxury home. With is beautiful staircase and reclaimed brick and oak features, the interior is truly stunning. This is one of our largest properties.

This home is perfect for group activities, Birthday celebrations, Hen Parties and Baby Shower’s.  It is spacious and desirable and a stunning backdrop for your party photographs. The large lounge seats 17 but can seat more if needed.

Stunning contemporary house located within the sunny south facing gardens of The Old Coach House, The Garden Room is set in the most peaceful tranquil part of the site. With double-doors leading out onto enclosed mature gardens this house is perfect for those wanting to relax and take time out. The whole house has a tranquil calming vibe.

For those wishing to enjoy activities whilst on holiday the kitchen is the hub of this house, It is literally HUGE! (we had one party who moved the table and hosted dance lessons in the kitchen!) Its size makes it perfect for those wanting to enjoy cooking and eating together. It is also an ideal place for group activities.

Horseshoe Cottage

Supercosy cottage located in gated and fenced gardens. This three bedroomed cottage is quirky and quaint. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.  One of the bedrooms is located downstairs with a downstairs bathroom which is perfect for an elderly relative or anyone with mobility issues.

Upstairs the sloping ceilings make the remaining two bedrooms intimate and romantic. With Walk in Wardrobes in both rooms and  a separate upstairs bathroom the rooms upstairs are clean, cosy and restful.

This cottage has a really homely feeling and is a perfect base for those wanting to spend the evenings cuddling up on the sofa, hot chocolate and marshmallows after a hard days sightseeing or shopping!

York is a short drive away, however our local villages boast Stunning Woodland Walks, a Watersport Park, Fantastic Farms Shops & Cafe Bars. We are also situated within walking distance of a Thai restaurant.

This exclusive house is only available for weekend hire on a seasonal basis

The Old Coach House

Our beautiful holiday cottages are perfectly situated  a stones-throw from the historic City of York. Our cottages have been carefully designed to accommodate the whole family, the perfect destination for fun filled days out and good times with all the family.

Located a 15 minute drive from the outskirts of York, we are ideal for those who that want to take the weekend at their own pace. So whether you’re looking to cook up some delicious meals in the comfort of your own accommodation, or enjoy cocktails in the beautiful gardens then look no further.

All of our houses are located seven miles East of York, near the Pretty Village of Wilberfoss. We are close to the Yorkshire Wolds & the East Coast. We are set in a rural location within walking distance of  a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Area . We’re also a short drive away from the Allerthorpe Woods (local wildlife area). We are situated within walking distance of a Thai restaurant. Also there is a direct bus route to the City of York.(Buses stop outside the properties every twenty minutes). The nearest pub is the Oddfellows at Wilberfoss (Quarter of a mile) or  The Half Moon which is a short journey (2 miles) to Newton upon Derwent.

The properties will suit anyone who likes a mix of a countryside setting with close access to city amenities. York is a fifteen minute drive away, however our local Villages boast Stunning Walks, Fantastic Farms Shops & Cafe Bars, The Award winning Pocklington Arts Centre, Golf Clubs, Pocklington Canal, Gliding Club and  Attractions such as The Elvington Air Museum. In addition there is also Burnby Hall Gardens & Allerthorpe Watersport Park.

Coachhouse Cottages York

We offer a half grass, half gravel spacious pitch with open views, optional electric hook up and water point.  All pitches will have the grass cut once a week and all guests will be asked to adhere to a noise policy.  Well behaved dogs are welcome to a maximum of 2 per pitch. 

The maximum age for a caravan being used as a seasonal pitch is 10 years old.

Camper vans with own on board toilet allowed

A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed providing they are well controlled, kept on a lead and any fouling left by them is cleared up immediately.

Day visitors are allowed on request but please consider your neighbouring caravans

No clothes line are permitted.

There will be a noise policy in place and guests will be asked to keep noise to a minimum between 11pm and 8am.

No commercial vehicles allowed on the park at any time.

Nothing is permitted to be stored underneath the caravan: the area must be kept clear.

Gas bottles are not to be left outside your caravan.

Awnings are allowed without groundsheets.

Grass and Gravel Pitch

This one does exactly what it says on the tin.  At Country Living Campsite you are treated to a slice of gloriously rural and countryside life....but here you can enjoy all the benefits (if you wish) of being a stone's throw from one of the most lively, historical and widely visited cities in England - beautiful York.  You are holidaying in a prime location here, and Country Living Campsite offers something that not many campsites can….a chance to explore a lively city by day and then retire to a tranquil and bucolic setting in the evening.

Situated in a conservation area in the picturesque village of Thorganby in North Yorkshire, the campsite is a welcome alternative to large, busy campsites, and is for those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  The campsite, tucked away down a pretty country lane, is **adults only**, and you can be sure of a true retreat here and a chance to sit and listen to birdsong, read a book or simply watch the world go by.  It is a dog walker’s paradise and  there are plenty of leisurely walks through the surrounding countryside - either along the nearby river or through the fields - and lots of good cycling routes too.  There is also a fishing lake in the village, which forms part of the Lower Derwent Valley Nature reserve. 

This is a small site with 12 spacious and well kept gravel/grass pitches for motorhomes and caravans open all year round.  Each pitch has its own water supply.  There is a toilet and hot shower available (Covid restrictions dependent of course) and the owners here do all they can to ensure a peaceful and tranquil stay with a strict noise policy.  If you want to party all night with a gang of friends this is possibly not the place; it is instead somewhere to **relax**, enjoy the quiet and maybe spot some of the abundant wildlife nearby.

Having said all that, if you do fancy exploring the fabulous city of York then look no further.  Just a few metres from the campsite you can hop on the bus that takes you directly into York within 30 minutes (although it is good to note that this is rural living and the bus is every couple of hours rather than every couple of minutes, so plan your day!)  York really is a city like no other.  Originally built as a giant fortress by the Romans and invaded by the Vikings centuries later, every part of history has left an imprint on the cobbled streets, with gems such as the medieval Shambles (the inspiration for Diagon Alley for Harry Potter fans), the majestic York Minster, ghost walks down some of the most haunted streets in Britain, a huge choice of modern, interactive and ground breaking museums such as the Jorvik museum, National Railway museum, the chocolate museum (Terrys and Rowntrees both originated here) and lots more.  The city centre of York is surrounded by the original and beautifully preserved medieval walls, and these are free to walk around on foot.

With such a huge amount to see both in York and the surrounding countryside of North Yorkshire, you might want to take a few days over it, so make this a proper holiday.  Country Living Campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind at the end of the day, and if you don’t want to cook, then the excellent Jefferson Arms - a traditional British pub - is only a short stroll down the road.  For a quiet and relaxed stay, in a picturesque spot, visit Country Living Campsite and enjoy a gentler pace of life. Even with absolutely nothing extra going on they truly are delightful Gardens, good and near the centre of Pocklington so easy to get into and house to a National assortment of Hardy Water Lilies, the collection that is biggest from it's kind can be found in an all natural environment in Europe! The 2 lakes that have the lilies are set in eight acres of beautiful gardens: including rock gardens, an all-natural shrubbery, formal beds, the trick Garden, a Victorian Garden and several other fascinating elements too! In addition they offer unique concerts which are outside the lands, and regular events such as falconry shows and the ones kid's game days we talked about, so call or check ahead for details particularly if the holiday breaks are coming, it is positively well worth preparing your visit to coincide with something unique!
