Kingfisher Cottage

Idyllic positions overlooking the confluence of the rivers Cripps and Brue. There are 6 hard standing pitches which are all fully serviced. 4 along the riverside and 2  just behind the riverside pitches. Probably some of the best riverside pitches for caravanning in Somerset.
Once you become a regular at Cripps Farm you will receive a 10% discount on every booking made on the touring site.
Minimum of two nights to be booked and Three-nights on a bank holiday weekend.
Occupancy shall be from 12 pm on the day of arrival to 11 am on the day of departure unless agreed otherwise.
Extra charges- Fishing lakes £5 a day or £3 for half a day, showers at 50p via the meter, Wi-fi and laundry facilities.
Store and stay – no more towing, let us site your caravan on your chosen pitch ready for your arrival and place your caravan back into storage, once your holiday has ended.

Dogs
Quiet dogs are welcome accompanied by responsible owners by prior agreement. You must ensure that the dog(s) are always kept on a lead. All fouling must be collected and disposed of using the bags and bins provided. Don’t leave your dogs’ alone in the caravans for long periods of time.  All fouling is to be cleared up before departure.

Hidden away in a peaceful corner of the lovely county of Somerset, on the banks of a river and in beautifully landscaped grounds, you will be very warmly welcomed at Cripps Farm Holidays.  Set across acres of rolling farmland near Bason Bridge, Cripps Farm is just a few miles from the seaside town of Burnham-on-Sea and the many coastal attractions nearby.  Guests staying at the campsite will be treated to glorious views across Somerset to the Mendips, Glastonbury Tor and the Quantock hills.  

Cripps Farm Holidays have lots of accommodation options and something for everyone.  There are 29 seasonal pitches, fully serviced and with either a riverside or countryside view - both stunning - which make for a rather special permanent holiday retreat for those who manage to bag one.  Not to worry if you don’t, there are also six good sized touring pitches, fully serviced and boasting possibly some of the loveliest riverside spots in Somerset.  In addition to this, they have 4 self catering cottages to book as well, all within the same carefully looked after and landscaped grounds, with pristine flowers beds and well-mown fields.

There are a number of peaceful walks around the campsite’s surrounding fields, including a long enclosed walk where your dog can have a good run around.  There is a well maintained toilet and shower block with underfloor heating and laundry facilities.  For those who like angling, the stars of the show are two rather lovely fishing lakes which are very well stocked with Rudd, Roach, Perch, Bream, Chub, Tench and Carp.  Fishing on the River Cripps and River Bure is also available.  And if you have canoes, explore the river from the water and enjoy the abundance of wildlife; look out for kingfishers, buzzards, otters and wild deer among other things.  Along with the wild animals to spot, there are also lots of farm animals for the kids to meet here, including cows, pigs and lambs in the spring.

There is so much to explore and enjoy in the local area, from Victorian seaside towns, medieval villages, stunning beaches, miles of rural countryside full of wildlife and nature trails, the gorges and caves of the Mendips and the lovely cities of Wells and Bath.  The location of Cripps Farm is incredible for exploring all of Somerset’s gems, but relaxing at the campsite might just be all the holiday you need, it really is a lovely spot.  Especially with the news that this year sees the opening of Cripps River Spa, a little haven of tranquility right on the campsite, offering a sauna, hot tub (with stunning views across the countryside of course), a treatment room and all round blissful relaxation.  It doesn’t get much better than that.  With walking, cycling, fishing all on your doorstep, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and bustling towns and pretty villages to explore, this Somerset campsite makes for a great holiday destination.

The site is in the Mendip Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Set in your own private  meadow surrounded on three sides by woodland, the yurt is an oasis for wild life. You may be lucky enough to get a visit from our local deer who often amble into your own meadow, normally in the morning. You will certainly be serenaded by the wild birds.

**Facilities:** The yurt has a king sized brass bed and the bedding is Egyptian cotton. The skylight lets you stargaze all night. As well as a wood burning stove there is an electric blanket,hot water bottles, woollen blankets and an electric heater for extra comfort on chilly nights. The veranda is great for watching the sun sink at the end of the day. Hammocks, a picnic table and barbecue area with seating, swings and badminton are available outside. We have some impressive sunsets over the Severn Estuary from May through to August.

You have your own private hot shower and wash house next to the yurt, along with wash basin and eco toilet. Inside the yurt is a fridge, kettle, toaster and single hot plate, along with all the kitchenware you'll need, so you don’t have to brave the elements for a cuppa on chilly mornings.
Outside is a double sink with drinking water running hot and cold with sprays and soaps supplied.
 Down on the ground sheltered beside the verandah is the barbecue area with an unlimited supply of wood and a big steel firepit to cook up a storm or just slowly warm up a few of our marshmallows on our special forks.

**Local Area:** There are many well-regarded pubs within walking distance at either end of the Batch. The Crown and the Nelson at the bottom of the hill(10-15 mins walk), the Star and the Swan(15-20mins walk - you may want to book beforehand) in the opposite direction and Thatcher’s Railway Inn over in Sandford. Churchill village is 15minutes walk away on the western edge of the Mendip Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, about 8 miles east of Weston-super-Mare, and about 15 miles south-west of Bristol.The village has a busy post office selling food and drink and dispensing cash as well as having a small cafe. There are many walks, cycle paths including the famous Strawberry line, and other outdoor activities nearby. Cheddar offers many beautiful walks, trails, cycle paths and lovely tea shops, and is also walkable from the yurt (about three hours!).

**Your neighbours:** You may find deer, foxes, squirrels, owls and the unseen badgers hanging out already. The rescue chickens will almost be certainly be round to check you out. The meadow has a variety of wild flowers including wild orchids. The wood behind the yurt is a mix of ash, oak, hazel and hawthorn hiding you from view for most of the year.

This is simple camping! Every pitch has a firepit. You can bring your own wood or buy a bag or two from the onsite owner or forage in the nearby woods. Basic toilet facilities with soaps and gels and a library. Solar showers available.  Tap with drinking water, washing up bowls and a large sink. 

Shared fridge and freezer. We will recycle or dispose of all your waste. Parking is 50m from the campfield. You can use our wheelbarrows to transport your equipment to your pitch. Beautiful views and dark skies. Maps and walking guides available.

Our onsite facilities were brand new in 2021 and we love our heated wood clad amenity block which has two bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers with a separate undercover washing up sink. 

The kitchen also has a selection of indoor and outdoor games to cater for all weathers, including croquet, boules and quoits, scrabble.

Please note there is a minimum booking of 2 nights for our bell tent. 

Your hire includes: 5m Canvas Bell Tent, Double bed and mattress, Bed linen, Duvet, LED Lantern, Three floor rugs, Scatter cushions, Fairy lights, Bunting, and a dug-out fire pit area. Fires will still need to be off-ground and fire pits can be hired from us if you don't have your own.

Our 5 metre Bell tent can accommodate up to 4 people. A double bed is included in the booking and up to two additional camp beds can be added as an extra. There is also space on the pitch for additional guests to pitch their own tents if you wish. *Electric is not provided.

Pitch 4 - Enchanted Forest

General Camping space for individuals or groups - no fires are allowed in this area as there is no fire pit available. 

Upon arrival in the field, stay right and come up the track to the small red building (compost toilet). Keep going all the way to the bell tent, turn left and the general camping areas are on the left hand side.

Individual Camper (Solo) (No Fire Pit)

Deep in rural Somerset, Splatt Farm Gardens is a spacious meadow campsite with fabulous views of the Quantock Hills.

OUR STORY
After many years in the rat race of London, we decided as a family to invest in a simpler and more sustainable life.

So, we decided to leave the hustle and bustle of London chaos and enjoy life in the countryside in the quiet of the Somerset hills. We are also delighted to announce the arrival of new baby Bodhi to have joined the family in March 2021.

Our vision is as simple as the life we are aspiring towards: to create a happy and sustainable planet and our method is to create a microcosm of this utopia in the small way that we can using the space and resources we have available to us.

By 2025, we aim for a holistic wellbeing and happiness centre, with camping, glamping, meditation retreats, tours of the project and a sustainable agriculture education centre - enjoy it with us as we continue on our journey to grow and develop into something beautiful...


CAMPSITE RULES
Here at Splatt Farm, we don't want to create unnecessary and restrictive rules. However, in order to ensure the happiness of all of our guests and neighbours, we ask that all guests follow the following:

1. Once unpacked and set up, please park your cars at the top end of the field near the entrance. No cars may be parked on or near camping pitches.


2. All fires, BBQs and stoves must be within the fire pit area on your pitch.


3. No amplified music is allowed on site after 9pm and no noise at all that disturbs others is allowed after 11pm.


4. This is an eco-friendly site. All recyclable rubbish must be separated and placed in the appropriate bin and all non-recyclable waste must be taken off-site with you.


5. Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is by 10am.


6. If your group is under 21, a behaviour deposit of £20 per person is required and if your group is under 18, no alcohol is allowed.


7. Your camping pitch must be left as you found it.

We are a scenic 1-acre camping location in a stunning part of the South Somerset countryside our site is a Certified Location by the Greener Camping Club. We offer spacious all-year-round pitch’s with access to:

- Water and waste water
- Toilets and sinks.
- Dog walking area.
- Chemical waste disposal.
- We are very family and pet friendly.

No electric hookups at the moment so come enjoy open fires and barbecues In designated areas!

The youngsters love going to the beach? We have the area that is perfect you! Pack all of your spades, buckets and rakes and acquire willing to build a sand castle at Berrow Beach near Bristol.This stunning coastline that is large perfect for long walks and horse riding. Additionally it is dog-friendly, so bring your four-legged friends and let them enjoy operating across the 6-mile stretch of sand.A time that is sluggish the coastline is a strong family favourite - simply unwind and luxuriate in the sunlight to your noise of children playing and waves washing in the coast with a quiet Woosh. Berrow is quieter than many beaches, therefore it is an location that is perfect rest and watch the sunset. You can also start to see the remains of a shipwreck in the bottom regarding the sea in the event that you visit at low tide!

The the west's theme park that is largest has over 40 great rides and tourist attractions including thrilling roller-coasters and household friendly watercraft rides, dodgems and so much more! There are designated baby, toddler and mega areas of play to ensure every age make many of Brean Theme Park. Rides for younger children consist of Pony Express; Cups n Saucers, Canoe River and Cartoon train. The play that is indoor could be the perfect spot for children to burn up that last bit of power while moms and dads unwind within the big cafi and spectator area.A theme park for all ages!

Brean Theme Park

Brean Splash offers the interior that is ultimate outdoor water based fun!This huge waterpark as an inside splash area for those of you days if it is simply too cool to swim outside with a mini waterslides at under 14s, hot pools and a fresh indoor Rainbow Rings waterslide, that will be 60m long. The Splash Park is a maze of tasks which will shoot, spray or douse you with water as they perform with their little ones as you make your path through as well as the splash zone itself has a great amount of water activities and games to keep you entertained.The water is set at a comfortable 29 to 30 degrees to ensure that moms and dads won't get too chilly. Then jump into the 25m heated 6-lane pool for some lap swimming, family pleasurable or even to flake out on the bubble lounger.There's much more to water than swimming should you wish warming up!
