The truly amazing Laxey Mine RailwayPassengers is now able to ride in a carriage that is tiny the line where packed wagons of ore were once hauled from the mine. The railway, 25 % of a mile in length, runs up the valley through the previous Washing Floors, now the Valley Gardens, to the adit that is primary where there is a picnic site, footpath and information boards explaining the mining features. The Laxey Wheel is only a short five walk that is moment. The line runs underneath the primary Laxey to Ramsey road plus the Manx Electric Railway through the railway tunnel that is longest in the Island!At the Mines Yard terminus of the railway, a series of information boards give an explanation for surviving mining features. The Laxey Wheel, the Lady Isabella, is simply a walk that is short from the terminus. Built in 1854 to pump floodwater through the mine, it is the largest working waterwheel on earth and is the Island's many tourist attraction that is visited.
