Please note that whilst we do accomodate for 1 night stays, you will still be charged the amount for 2 nights.

The Orchard Campsite is set in over 11 acres on the edge of the Suffolk village of Wickham Market. Close to the Suffolk Heritage Coast and Rendlesham Forest.
The site offers a friendly, family atmosphere in a quiet rural setting with a variety of pitches to suit most tastes.
The Orchard has been in Alan Hammond’s family for three generations. Alan first opened the campsite over 25 years ago. No check in or out times.

With no club and no pool, people who come to Fen Farm do so for the tranquil atmosphere and children often surprise themselves by finding an occupation that does not involve anything being switched on or booted up!

There are always the play areas with swings, seesaws, climbing frames etc. In addition to this, children enjoy ‘crabbing’ in the creeks, playing on the beach or in the sea. We also have an open field for ball games, flying kites or just walking the dog.

Dogs are welcome and there are dog walks all around the park. There are also many footpath walks nearby as well as a dog friendly beach. Ideal for people looking for a quiet family retreat, situated by the sea and close to a country park in a small village on Mersea Island. The Farm has been owned by the Lord family since 1918 and the first tents were pitched in 1923, so the park has grown rather than been developed.


Our aim is to run a peaceful, tranquil park therefore we do not accept bookings of 3 or more pitches. A group is defined by the number of units not the number of people in each unit. We politely ask that people do not make separate bookings and then form a group on arrival or congregate together on site during their stay.

Unfortunately, due to previous experience, we cannot accept bookings of groups of people under 21.

Fen Farm Caravan Site

New for 2025, we are now offering a 5 m Bell Tent which has a double bed and a sofa bed for the children. Maximum capacity of 4 people. Out side we offer a picnic bench and fire pit and space for your vehicle. The bell Tent is sited in the meadow.

Non-Electric Grass Motorhome Pitch

This double glazed hut sleeps 2 adults in a king size bed and up to two children in a bunk style double above. 

Inside both of the huts you also have a table and 2 chairs, with the use of a fire pit outside. Sheets are provided, however you will need to bring pillows and sleeping bags.

Badger Camping Pod

This hut sited in the meadow sleeps 2 adults in a king size bed and also offers a wood burning stove for those cold evenings.

As we do not have any electric hook up on site, the huts do not offer electricity or a kitchen area. The lights are ran from an external battery. Please bring all cooking utensils as if you are camping. We do offer a small fridge and freezer at East Barn. 

Rabbit

With Just 5 pitches available within 5 acres of land, you are guaranteed space and privacy. You can set up on the main field or wild camp on one of our limited pitches in the meadow.

Non-Electric Grass Tent Or Trailer Tent Pitch

The site is in a beautiful spot surrounded by open fields and an abundance of wildlife. It is located in Suffolk, close to the charming villages of Felsham and Rattlesden and is only a short drive away from Medieval Lavenham and the Market Town of Bury St Edmunds.
 
Nestling in 10 acres of meadowland this site offers a peaceful children and dog friendly campsite and shepherd's huts where you can enjoy a wild camping experience in our meadowland, campfires, stargazing and an abundance of wildlife.

Its is the perfect place to relax, unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Barn Owl Camping

*Camp Chalkney comprises of 10 luxurious “Nomadic” bell tents situated in a secluded meadow perched on the edge of a beautiful lake.*

Each tent comes furnished with a double bed, full bedding and bath towels, blankets, cushions, matting and colourful rugs, a basic power supply for lighting and phone charging and low lying bedside tables. Additional single mattresses are added for 3-5 guests.

**Damages or Breakages** - **Any damage to site facilities or to our accommodation, including when our tents are left in an unsatisfactory state, will incur additional charges. This also includes any noise disturbance** so please ensure noise levels are kept to a sensible level otherwise you may also incur additional charges. Any **items left behind must be claimed within two weeks of departure.** If relevant, postage and packing charges for the return of goods will apply. Please notify us of any damage or mess to the tent or its contents before your departure. Guests are **not permitted** to remove any items from our dwellings. Please ensure you leave your accommodation in a clean and tidy state
 
**We do not accept bookings from unaccompanied adults aged 18 or under.**

**Campfires** - Campfires are only permitted in designated areas. There is one communal fire pit and each dwelling has its own small fire pit. Please do not make fires anywhere else on the site. **Any fires found outside of the designated areas will incur a charge.** Only timber supplied by us can be used. You are **not permitted** to use branches, debris, or other items you may see around the farmstead. All timber and similar flammable materials are the property of the owners. Please ensure you use your fire pit safely.

**BBQ** - Fire pits and grills are provided with each tent.  If any disposable BBQs are used, they must be kept off the grass and disposed of as directed by our staff.

**Noise** - We are a Low Noise Policy Site. Please consider other guests and keep noise to a minimum, especially after 21.00.

**Parking** - There is free parking next to the site. Your tariffs cover you for one car per dwelling. Additional cars incur a charge and must be parked in the car park. Please let us know if you wish to bring additional vehicles. No vehicles to be driven onto the site.

**Waste & Rubbish** - Wipes, sanitary waste, nappies, cloths etc must not be flushed down the toilets. Bins are provided – please make sure you use them. These items must be wrapped and put in the bin provided. Please empty any liquid waste into designated drain. Refuse area situated by the kitchen. Please do not drop litter. Please respect the site and treat our facilities with care.

**Recycling** - Please make use of the recycling facilities provided. We have recycling bins for glass & general waste. Please note that our general waste is collected by CSH Environmental who have a state-of-the-art recycling centre where all your general waste is sorted and recycled. **SAFETY** - The following are not permitted inside of our tents: gas appliances of any kind, fires, BBQs or smoking. Naked flames are used in/by our tents only when occupied, and are used at your own risk. Please ensure your children do not climb trees in the woodland around the site. Children must be accompanied when using the toilet block facilities. Please be aware of where your children are and what they are doing at all times. Please ensure your children are accompanied at all times and be aware of the dangers. We are not responsible for the safety of your children.
 
**Emergency Numbers** - A list of emergency numbers is available in the kitchen.

**British Weather** - Camping in Britain can mean unpredictable weather. Whilst we supply certain facilities and equipment, it is still camping and you are responsible for your own well being and comfort regarding appropriate clothing and footwear etc. Be aware the tents are cotton canvas and in prolonged and heavy rain the tents may leak. Please keep windows and doors to the tents closed during rainfall to avoid water getting in. Browning Bros. cannot be held responsible for poor weather conditions during your stay.

The owners of the site are absolved of all liability for accidents, loss or damage to guests’ personal property. We reserve the right to ask guests not observing the conditions to leave the site without refunds and with immediate effect.

The Suffolk Steel House & Glamping.

Were a family run business here at the Suffolk Steel House & Glamping. 3 generations of have had input into this new and exciting venture which we invite you to come and share with us.

Although we have plans to increase the number of Bell Tents available in the future, for this year we are launching the site with just one exclusive luxury 5 metre Bell Tent for 2 people, set all on its own in our half acre mini field.

Youll have your own bathroom, housed in the Monty Don inspired steel house where of course, youll find up to date facilities-hot/cold running water, enclosed shower, flushing loo etc.

Set on the edge of the lovely old village of Tattingstone, with its 2 pubs and shops within a bike ride ride away, youll have all you need for the perfect relaxing break.

The Suffolk Steel House & Glamping - facilities.

On the site is a converted 1950s Rice Horse box kitchen. Inside you will find 2 electric hobs, fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, cutlery & crockery.

For washing facilities, you have access to your own corrugated steel shed which has hot & cold running water, enclosed shower, basin and flushing loo.

Our 5 metre Bell Tent The Orwell (named after one of the 4 rivers which surrounds the area) is furnished with a King size bed, indoor log burner, functional copper pipe wardrobe, coir matting and a few other bits such as cushions, throws etc. The tent is set in over half an acre of Suffolk countryside.

The price for the Orwell Bell Tent starts at �120 per night (3 night minimum booking). Please note that the accommodation is for 2 adults only.


Included in the price are the following.

Quilt, pillows and bed linen for 2 people.

Towels for 2 people.

The use of 2 vintage bikes for the duration of your stay.

The use of the vintage Rice horse box kitchen.
