Sparrows Campsite has 6 luxury Bell tents available in the main wildflower meadow, each one named after the different variety of trees that are found in the woodlands surrounding the campsite.


The tents are set in their own private “settlement” in the meadow surrounded by a woven fence barrier to making it feel like you’re in your own wild off-grid camp! You’ll find everything you need for your stay within your settlement, but the emphasis is on keeping it simple at the same time. Each area has a campfire at the heart of the settlement with seating as well as an outdoor dining area too. 

The Bell tents are fully furnished with beds, mattresses and bedding, all you'll need to bring is a towel.

The settlements are close to the campsite's shower and toilet facilities, so if nature calls you don't have to walk half a mile to get to them in the middle of the night!

Sparrows campsite also offers the option of wild camping in a number of beautiful areas around the campsite. There are 5 pitches available and all are set in their own private area with a campfire and picnic table. So if you have your own tent or campervan all you have to do is book a pitch and turn up! 


You will have access to the hot showers and the rest of the campsite facilities which are only a short walk from the wild camping area.

**Campfires** - Campfires are only permitted in designated areas. There is one communal fire pit and each dwelling has its own small fire pit. Please do not make fires anywhere else on the site. **Any fires found outside of the designated areas will incur a charge.** Only timber supplied by us can be used. You are **not permitted** to use branches, debris, or other items you may see around the farmstead. All timber and similar flammable materials are the property of the owners. Please ensure you use your fire pit safely.

**BBQ** - Fire pits and grills are provided with each tent.  If any disposable BBQs are used, they must be kept off the grass and disposed of as directed by our staff.

**Noise** - We are a Low Noise Policy Site. Please consider other guests and keep noise to a minimum, especially after 21.00.

**Parking** - There is free parking next to the site. Your tariffs cover you for one car per dwelling. Additional cars incur a charge and must be parked in the car park. Please let us know if you wish to bring additional vehicles. No vehicles to be driven onto the site.

**Waste & Rubbish** - Wipes, sanitary waste, nappies, cloths etc must not be flushed down the toilets. Bins are provided – please make sure you use them. These items must be wrapped and put in the bin provided. Please empty any liquid waste into designated drain. Refuse area situated by the kitchen. Please do not drop litter. Please respect the site and treat our facilities with care.

**Recycling** - Please make use of the recycling facilities provided. We have recycling bins for glass & general waste. Please note that our general waste is collected by CSH Environmental who have a state-of-the-art recycling centre where all your general waste is sorted and recycled. **SAFETY** - The following are not permitted inside of our tents: gas appliances of any kind, fires, BBQs or smoking. Please keep windows and doors to the tents closed during rainfall to avoid water getting in. Browning Bros. cannot be held responsible for poor weather conditions during your stay.

With a hot tub positioned in front of the cabin, overlooking the lake, there is really no reason to leave the property during your stay. However, if you fancy some exercise there are some beautiful walks in the neighbouring ancient woodland, a 10 minute walk from the cabin.

Kingfishers Nest - Browning Bros

This dwelling is situated out in the meadow in a prime spot to soak up the afternoon and evening sun. A short walk from the car park as well as the Orchard Wash House.

Ideal for families, this large Mongolian yurt has a double bedstead with 4 single mattresses either side. Also included are 2 bedside tables, lighting, furnishings, mirror, and table at the end of the bed. Carpets, rugs, and pillows create a snug feel to the tent. Bedding and bath towels are provided for as well as extra blankets should you need them.The skylight allows you to truly fall asleep under the stars, the only draw back is that you may be woken at first light so worth bringing sleeping eye mask.

Please note interior furnishings are more or less the same in each dwelling.

Rafiki

The Shepherd’s Hut was bought by our great grandfather about sixty years ago and has been refurbished into a charming, small but cosy dwelling for 1-2 people.

It has the least space of all our accommodation but is certainly the snuggest with its own little wood burner. It sits in the far right corner of the meadow under an oak tree. The Orchard Wash House and Orchard Kitchen can be seen across the meadow a short walk away.

The hut comes with a double bedstead, lighting, mirror, and table at the end of the bed. Rugs, and pillows create a snug feel to the hut. Bedding and bath towels are provided for as well as extra blankets should you need them. The little log burner keeps this nice and snug in the Spring and Autumn months.

The Shepherd's Hut

This luxury bell tent is tucked away in a grassy glade in the woods just a short walk away from Orchard Wash House and Orchard Kitchen.

This bell tent comes with a double bedstead with up to three mattresses on the floor. Also included are 2 bedside tables, lighting, mirror and table at the end of the bed. Carpets, rugs, and pillows create a snug feel to the tent. Bedding and bath towels are provided for as well as extra blankets should you need them.

Please note interior furnishings are more or less the same in each dwelling.

Bagheera

This beautiful handcrafted Mongolian yurt is positioned at the far end of the site. If you are keen to enjoy your own company and have a little more privacy, whilst listening to the brook meander past, then this is the best choice. On the downside – it is the furthest from the facilities!

Mufassa

Once upon a time, this structure was used to store grain on the farm following the annual harvest in August.

The Grain Silo is our most romantic getaway, tucked away in the woods at the back of the site.

The Silo has a double bed, bedside tables, lighting, drapes and throws, mirror. Rugs, and pillows create a snug feel to the Silo. Bedding and bath towels are provided for as well as extra blankets should you need them. The little log burner keeps this nice and snug in the Spring and Autumn months. The skylight allows you to truly fall asleep under the stars, the only draw back is that you may be woken at first light so worth bringing sleeping eye mask.

Waste & Rubbish - Wipes, sanitary waste, nappies, cloths etc must not be flushed down the toilets. Bins are provided – please make sure you use them. These items must be wrapped and put in the bin provided. Please empty any liquid waste into designated drain. Refuse area situated by the kitchen. Please do not drop litter. Please respect the site and treat our facilities with care.

Recycling - Please make use of the recycling facilities provided. We have recycling bins for glass & general waste. Please note that our general waste is collected by CSH Environmental who have a state-of-the-art recycling centre where all your general waste is sorted and recycled. Please ensure your children are accompanied at all times and be aware of the dangers. We are not responsible for the safety of your children.

Whilst we supply certain facilities and equipment, it is still camping and you are responsible for your own well being and comfort regarding appropriate clothing and footwear etc. Be aware the tents are cotton canvas and in prolonged and heavy rain the tents may leak. Please keep windows and doors to the tents closed during rainfall to avoid water getting in. Browning Bros. cannot be held responsible for poor weather conditions during your stay.

The owners of the site are absolved of all liability for accidents, loss or damage to guests’ personal property. We reserve the right to ask guests not observing the conditions to leave the site without refunds and with immediate effect.

Colonel Hathi

This 16ft traditionally crafted yurt has been beautifully handmade by a lovely chap from Somerset who has been building these structures for years. The olive colour of the canvas makes it blend in beautifully to its surroundings in the meadow. The yurt is positioned in the very centre of the site, a short distance from the facilities.

This yurt comes with a double bedstead and up to 3 mattresses on the floor. Also included are 2 bedside tables, lighting, mirror, and table at the end of the bed. Carpets, rugs, and pillows create a snug feel to the tent. Bedding and bath towels are provided for as well as extra blankets should you need them. The little log burner keeps this nice and snug in the Spring and Autumn months. The skylight allows you to truly fall asleep under the stars, the only draw back is that you may be woken at first light so worth bringing sleeping eye mask.

Please note interior furnishings are more or less the same in each dwelling.

Damages or Breakages - Any damage to site facilities or to our accommodation, including when our tents are left in an unsatisfactory state, will incur additional charges. This also includes any noise disturbance so please ensure noise levels are kept to a sensible level otherwise you may also incur additional charges. Any items left behind must be claimed within two weeks of departure. If relevant, postage and packing charges for the return of goods will apply. Please notify us of any damage or mess to the tent or its contents before your departure. Guests are not permitted to remove any items from our dwellings. Please ensure you leave your accommodation in a clean and tidy state

We do not accept bookings from unaccompanied adults aged 18 or under.

It is a fantastic spot to bring the children for a weekend in the countryside or to relax with a few friends around a campfire. We are just 50 minutes outside of London, by train, yet nestled peacefully in a tranquil rural setting.

We have an exciting range of quirky accommodation available to our guests, ranging from beautiful bell tents to handcrafted Mongolian Yurts.

Our larger dwellings are perfect for families and friends, whilst the refurbished Grain Silo and Shepherds Hut both make for particularly romantic abodes for couples. All accommodation comes with a private firepit/BBQ grill, picnic tables. Inside you will find a cosy double bed, furnishings and bedding. We can provide additional single mattresses in some accommodation allowing space for up to four or even five people to sleep comfortably under the stars.

Peaceful site on a farm near the village of Hartest Bury St Edmunds and Ickworth House within 15 minutes drive Back to basics pitches with running water and space for campfires Bring on the chilled country days… peace is served up by the spade at Waldegrave Farm, a secluded site between the villages of Lawshall and Hartest.

Should you require their urban amenities, the towns of Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham and Long Melford are all around 15 minutes away by car. Rural relaxation is the name of the game here though – all the classic ingredients are on hand for your stay on-site, including hedgerows home to wildlife, a little brook flowing through the grounds and plenty of open space for not doing very much at all (although one might stretch to creating a campfire and cracking open a beer or two...?).

There’s little here to distract from the vibe: amenities on the basic pitches are limited to running water, but there are no toilets or showers on site. According to the owners, this is not so much a campsite as a farm with remote pitches around it. If you want to be alone or just with your group this is the place to come. The end goal is that staying at Waldegrave Farm will make you feel like you're the only people here, no matter how many pitches are occupied.

Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens has 5 acres of formal public gardens integrating some 250 trees so it is a lovely space that is green a family outing and a grand backdrop for household photos. There is a reasonably sized kids' play ground supplied with multi usage equipment for a few fun workout, with features including all of the classics like fall, swings, witch's cap and fox that is flying. You could book the tennis courts and attend bandstand that is regular. The crazy Garden is very favored by the mini beasts and squirrels, while the pool that is circular water lilies and goldfish to spot.  To make the all of the trip take bats (or rackets!) and balls, sketchpad and camera plus a picnic! There's the maximum amount of to do here due to the fact imagination allows. As well as the Gardens Coffee home is open seven days a week if Yogi's has your picnic basket away, serving hot and cool treats and beverages made freshly on the premises, with lovely treats for children ice that is including.
