Hidden away in the North Devon countryside, a treat awaits.  Only a short drive away from some of Devon’s most gorgeous sandy beaches is a family run dairy farm with some rather beautiful glamping accommodation.  The owners have created an absolute oasis here; a small and secluded glamping site, set in a sheltered field with a small, seasonal stream meandering through. There are only three boutique Lotus belle tents - each which sleep four people very comfortably indeed - so you can be sure of a quiet and relaxing stay. (A small single mattress or travel cot can be provided for a 5th little person).  Each tent is positioned in its own area of the field with a good sized outdoor seating area, a wood burning stove and a firepit - perfect for sitting around and keeping cosy in the evenings.  There is a private outdoor kitchen area with a gas barbeque, cooking equipment and crockery, and each tent also has its own shower and toilet.  Inside the belle tent, everything is made up and ready, with beautiful bedding, fairy lights and pretty furnishings…so you can just arrive, unpack and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.  The site is car-free (wheelbarrow your things in!) and off-grid, so kids can roam happily….and in the evenings, a lack of light pollution means beautifully starry skies.  There is also a play barn, packed with activities and games to play, as well as dining tables and chairs, a fridge and other things to make your stay stress free.  It is a wonderful place, a place to get away from it all, relax, unwind and appreciate all that is lovely about the outdoors.  Cheglinch Farm is teeming with local wildlife, not to mention all the farm animals; you might be lucky enough to watch the new calves being fed, collect eggs from the chickens or meet the resident guinea pigs.  And if you do want a day at the beach you are absolutely spoilt for choice here, with Ilfracombe just a few minutes drive away and the sandy shores of Woolacombe, the surf mecca of Croyde and Saunton also very close by.  A fantastic glamping site in a beautiful part of Devon.

For a more old fashioned and wild camping experience, we have our pop-up campsite at a different location on the outskirts of the farm - Cheglinch Camping - which is open for a short time in the summer.  We have fire pits, toilets and drinking water but no showers; this is a wonderful back to basics camping experience!  Either bring your own tent or book one of our pre-pitched, unfurnished Lotus Belle Tents.

As this is a completely rural location, well away from houses and amenities, the facilities are basic allowing you to experience true wild camping.  A main’s water tap providing fresh drinking water, a sink with cold water for washing up and toilet facilities are provided.  Showers are not available but you are welcome to bring your own portable one.

Cheglinch Camping

If you long for the days of good old fashioned camping, without all the bells, whistles and over manicured pitches, then wind your way through the rolling Devon countryside and settle yourselves into this absolute gem.  The rural setting is home to Cheglinch Farm Wild Camping, a campsite on the outskirts of a working farm and open only for a short time over the summer months, before returning back to agricultural farmland.  This lovely unspoiled spot is a taste of what camping used to be, where you can simply bring your tent, set up where you choose in a field unmarked by fenced off pitches, and enjoy stunning, far reaching views across the countryside.  Cows graze in the fields nearby and children are free to run about to their heart’s content.  You’ll need to bring all your own camping gear (although you can hire firepits) but provided here is exactly what you need and nothing more: a drinking water tap, toilet facilities and a sink to wash up; so for those looking for a truly authentic camping affair, this is it.  No showers, but with several excellent swimming beaches very close by on Devon’s beautiful coastline, it’s one exception that’s well worth making.  And you can always bring your own.  What you do get in return is a completely rural location - far away from the farm’s sister glamping site and other facilities - and space and tranquillity to enjoy something that many of us strive for every day.  The chance to just sit, relax, make a barbeque and watch the sun go down in a properly “wild” location.  With the gorgeous sandy beaches of Woolcoombe, Saunton, Ilfracombe and Croyde nearby, you have the beauty of both coastal and countryside settings.  And if you want to travel further afield, Exmoor National Park is only a 30 minute drive away. 
Also good to note that if you love the idea of wild camping here but you don't have a tent, you can hire one of their beautiful pre-erected Lotus Belle tents which are 5 metres in diameter and super spacious.  You'll still need to bring all your things for the inside, but the tricky bit is done for you!


Large grass pitches located in paddock 3. These pitches are the furthest from the facilites but are quieter and have lots of space to spread out, play games and have BBQs. Paddock 3 offers some of the best views on the site ideal for spending the summer evening watching the sun set over the sea.

Walking on Waves Surf School  Saunton and Croyde, North Devon

Saunton is an awesome beach to teach, learn and progress on. It helps us in the development of new standards and techniques and its also a great playground. The beach is known for its long, slow waves although the high tidal range can shake things up, the great thing is that even when busy you can escape the crowds along the 3 miles of shoreline and the atmosphere is mellow and friendly.

All our coaches are fully qualified surf instructors & beach lifeguards with many years coaching experience all over the world, with a true passion for surfing and watersports. We operate our surf lessons on the beautiful Woolacombe Beach, awarded the best beach in the UK 2015 & 2016. With 3 miles of golden sand facing the Atlantic we have a great learning environment for surfing. Our kayaking and coasteering trips are hosted on the breathtaking coastline of North Devon.

We also offer top quality surf hire equipment, from surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits right through to stand up paddle boards (SUP'S) and kayaks.

Braunton and District Museum is housed in the Bakehouse Centre that was specifically converted from a former bakehouse and two cottages.We recognize that the Museum staff are very welcoming and gives a guided tour it is possible to grab a printed guide.The collections during the Museum reflects early beginnings of Braunton with particular reference to the Braunton Great Field, one of only two staying working samples of Saxon strip farming in England.Maritime heritage additionally features greatly with scale models of Braunton vessels on show if you fancy or.

Braunton and District Museum

Saunton Sands is famous to your kids once the backdrop to Robbie William's 'Angels' track, this is certainly three miles of golden sand backed by Braunton Burrows, the united kingdom's dune system.The water that is largest on the west dealing with coast shelves carefully in to the coastline which makes it a good shallow spot for novice surfers, but such a thing beyond paddling isn't encouraged especially at the north end where swimming would be actually dangerous. There isn't any lifeguard cover at any right time of year.Local facilities include toilets, store and cafe bar. There is pay that is local and surf hire.Please keep in mind that the contact details are for the local TIC so please plan your journey separately.
