The Quarry Pitch

As a 'Certificated Location' with the Motor Caravanners Club, members and non-members are all welcome. The site can accept up to 5 Motor Caravans or Caravans at any one time with all pitches having electric hook-ups. Being a working farm and for safety, only adult guests are permitted.

In adverse weather conditions where access to the paddocks is restricted, our new gravel pitches are available in the main front yard including electric hook-ups.

All guests must be self-sufficient, the site has no on-site toilet or shower facilities, however fresh water, a refuse recycling centre and emptying points are available. Only green organic toilet solutions can be used on-site and 'Leisure Depot Organic Green Toilet Chemical', is always available at the farm for guests. 

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. bookings will be held for 24 hours. After this period we reserve the right to relet the pitch.

No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Tents are not accepted at this park.

Grass Touring Pitch

Aylton Motorhome & Caravan Site

In a pretty setting on a bend in the River Wye, looking across to the Herefordshire hills, this delightful church enjoys a rich collection of monuments, beautiful stained glass windows as well as an unusual 17th-century font and the carvings on the medieval stalls.

The Scudamore family were patrons of the church from Medieval times until the twentieth century, and their monuments are a spectacular treasure. John Scudamore, who died in 1571 lies beside his wife on a tomb chest, decked out in full armour. James Scudamore, who died in 1668, wears Roman costume in a great wedding cake of a wall monument – possibly by Grinling Gibbons. Beautiful stained glass also delights the eye. Most of it is nineteenth and twentieth century, though the chancel north window is made up of fragments of medieval glass.

Our 2 gorgeous five metre 'fully furnished' Bell Tents - Bell Tent Boutique - 5m 360gsm Fireproof Pro Bell Tent with stove hole - are set on individual plateaus on the east facing slope of the valley. They are sumptuously furnished with just about everything you’ll need and come complete with their own wood burning stove, fire pit, grill, kettle, and a cooking tripod with a Dutch Oven in which you can cook just about anything from bread to a roast dinner. Each of our furnished bell tents now has it's own kitchen shelter too.

There is a double bed, plus camping beds available upon request for extra guests (but you'll need sleeping bags for these). There is also a double ring gas stove in our new kitchen shelter, plus all the pots, pans, and utensils you’ll need for your stay. Best of all there is a wood burning stove to keep you warm if the evenings or mornings get a bit chilly. We provide an initial ‘fire pack’ comprising of a basket of logs, a bundle of kindling, firelighters and a box of matches. More of all of these can be bought from our honesty shop.

We suggest you bring a torch and a battery powered light for use inside the tent and for those midnight toilet trips, as well as sleeping bags for the kids, wellies, warm clothing, towels, tea towels, dish cloths or sponges, and food.

The Bell Tents are just a stroll from the toilet, shower and washing-up facilities and are just a short walk from the carpark. The site itself is car free and off grid (no power in the tents). 

Wheelbarrows are available to cart your belongings from car to tent.


Fully Furnished Bell Tent

The site itself is actually an untamed ancient orchard that slopes down to woodland and a stream that marks the boundary of our land. You will be camping amongst the wildflowers and the unusual ‘otherworldly’ ant hills that tell us that this land has been undisturbed for centuries.

The opportunities for wildlife ‘safaris’ are endless, from your run of the mill rabbits and more than our fair share of woodland birds, to badgers, foxes and muntjac deer roaming around your tent at night, to sightings of fallow deer and buzzards, sparrow hawks and the occasional red kite flying overhead.

We allow camp fires, as long as they are off the ground (firepits available on site) and we have nets of logs and kindling for sale at our honesty shop, we also sell (amongst other things) locally produced meat for breakfast and your bbq's, as well as the obligatory marshmallows to toast over the campfire.

Facilities are basic, but comfortable and clean. At the moment we have a couple of composting toilets, a gas shower and a covered washing up area. There is no electricity on the campsite and the lighting in the facilities block is solar powered, so you may need to bring a torch to find your way to the loo at night.

The field is a car free site, which is perfect for families, it’s a short walk from the car park, and you can borrow one of wheel barrows to ferry your gear.

Hidden Valley Camping

Non-electric, grass, tent pitch. Each tent pitch shares an adjacent field to Evelyn and Lillian, our Bell Tents. Sharing a free eco-bathroom based in a shepherds hut, these are in a separate field to the 2 glamping fields.

Non-electric grass pitch

One of only 2 delightful Bell tents, sited in their own small field, with their own bathroom and kitchen facilities. This is Lillian, her field is also home to its own bathroom facilities as well as the information pod where you will also find the local produce and dining table and chairs. This field has a more open feel, furthest away from the car park, with established hedge to 3 sides, and a fence to the long side. Lillian is furnished with light pine furniture, solar lights both inside and out give a romantic glow at night with out hiding the starlit sky, The car park is located on the other side of the hedge over a small bridge next to the tents. 

Just a short walk along the hedge row to the second field, a rice horse trailer provides a quirky yet luxury composting toilet, basin and shower.

he kitchen pods at each tent contain a gas double burner and there is a barbecue provided. We love where we live and we want to share it.

Lilian Bell Tent

One of only 2 delightful Bell tents, sited in their own small field, with their own bathroom and kitchen facilities. This is Evelyn, her field is next to the car park, a short walk through the hedge to the next field leads to the information pod where you will also find the local produce and dining table and chairs. This field has a more woodland feel, with established hedge to 3 sides, and a fence to the short side. Evelyn is furnished with dark timer furniture, solar lights both inside and out give a romantic glow at night with out hiding the star lite sky, here is a car park located on the other side of the hedge over a small bridge next to the tents.

Each tent is furnished with a comfortable double bed and for children bed rolls can be provided, but you will need to provide your own bedding. There are hot water bottles available to keep you warm on chilly nights. The kitchen pods at each tent contain a gas double burner and there is a barbecue provided. We love where we live and we want to share it.

Set in its own private glade, our new Tree House offers the chance to be close to nature with the convenience of modern facilities and home comforts.

This luxurious glamping accommodation features a king size bed with plush pillows and a luxuriously cosy duvet, a dining room table and chairs, a comfy sofa, outside furniture, a spa hot tub (extra charge), BBQ, and a private bathroom with a  hot shower, a flushing toilet and convenient kitchenette. The cooking facilities comprise of a microwave, toaster, kettle, nespresso coffee machine, fridge freezer and the bbq.

The Tree Dome

This luxurious glamping accommodation features a king size bed with plush pillows and a luxuriously cosy duvet. For guests booking for more than 2 people the additional 2 beds are of the fold out type. There is full sized dining table and chairs, outside furniture, a luxurious Scandinavian wood fired hot tub (love tub, £65.00 extra charge), BBQ, and a private bathroom with a  hot shower, a flushing toilet and convenient kitchenette.  The cooking facilities comprise of a microwave, toaster, kettle, nespresso coffee machine, fridge freezer and the bbq.

All well behaved dogs are welcome at an additional charge of £15.00 per dog. Dogs are not permitted on furniture. All guests bringing dogs are required to sign our dog policy before checking in.

This beautifully restored, romantic, vintage silver Airstream is set within her own private enclosed meadow. Marilyn Meadows has her own large sundeck with sunken bath, recliners, fire pit/BBQ & far reaching rural views . You can just relax in the rural retreat or explore the local area where you will find, wild swimming, hiking in the Black Mountains, the Forest of Dean or the scenic Wye Valley. There are castles, gin tours & historic market towns to explore with eateries & independent shops.

There is a private parking area which leads you through an arch in the apple trees, where you will discover the beautifully restored, shiny 1956 Airstream trailer. Inside you will find a very comfortable sleeping area, cosy seating area, heating, fully equipped galley kitchen, fridge , microwave, and a mini dressing room with a hairdryer.

There’s lots of storage and fold out inside dining area with seating. Excellent WIFI signal and blue tooth speakers.

Out front there is a large private deck with a covered area, sun loungers, a pop up outside cinema, BBQ/ firepit and sunken bath with hot and cold running water and bubble bath. A gravel path leads to the insulated heated shower block fully plumbed with a waterfall shower. We hope we have thought of everything you would need for a relaxing rural retreat.

At The Shires Park we are a small, friendly caravan and camping site nestled in the glorious county of Hereford & bordering Shropshire. The park has picturesque views of the surrounding countryside with rolling hills and stunning tree lines. It is a great place to get away from it all but also a perfect base to explore everything Herefordshire and Shropshire have to offer.
