Baltasound Hotel

Accommodation is in our newly renovated lodge. There are three high quality en-suite double rooms with twin beds; quality furnishings and luxury touches such as Egyptian cotton bedding. All bedrooms are ensuite and have views over either the meadows and cliffs or the beach and gardens. The bathrooms have large shower rooms or a bath with a shower. On the ground floor, there is a cosy guest’s sitting room with a log burning fire for chillier nights. Breakfast is taken in the glazed and heated sunroom or kitchen. The house is centrally heated throughout. 

Due to the limitations of a traditional property we are unable to offer full disabled access however please contact us for further advice. Off-road parking is immediately adjacent to the house. Continental or hearty Shetland breakfasts can be served using freshly prepared locally sourced ingredients, where possible, at particular times of the year. It is served in the large kitchen or sun lounge overlooking outstanding scenery.
LINEN We provide linen, towels, pillowcases, sheets and duvet covers. If there are young children at the party please bring waterproof sheets as any damage to our mattresses would need to be charged for.

PETS 

We do accept dogs for stays of 1 week or more. Normally one only is accepted in Bordanoost Lodge provided that it is not left unattended at any time or allowed on the furniture or in the bedrooms. If you wish to bring more than one dog then please discuss this before booking. We provide cleaning equipment for you if you wish to bring your dog and we would expect that you have cleaned up after them and also cleaned the vacuum cleaner out when you have finished.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE TIMES The majority of lettings commence at 3.00 pm on the first day of your holiday and end at 10 am on the day of departure. However, sometimes you can request an earlier arrival time and we will do our very best to accommodate you. This will be confirmed on your booking confirmation.

GROUPS OF YOUNG PEOPLE

We regret we are unable to accept bookings from groups of people under the age of 25.
NUMBER IN PARTY 
This must not exceed the maximum number stipulated in our property description. For example, 6 adults or any combination of adults and children to a maximum of 6 persons.

Bordanoost Lodge B & B 

‍Bordanoost Lodge provides an excellent base for exploring the fascinating island of Unst. Measuring approximately 12 miles long by 5 miles wide, Unst has a population of around 600, who despite the island’s small size and remote location, enjoy an excellent range of amenities which are mainly based in Baltasound, the main settlement which is a couple of miles to the south.

The accommodation is set overlooking Haroldswick bay with superb views. It is set on the side of a pebble beach with abundant birdlife, otters and seals that can be observed from the house's windows, the expansive walled garden and the sun lounge. The accommodation provides an ideal base for walking, cycling, fishing, observing wildlife and investigating the rich and diverse history of the island of Unst including remains of Viking settlements, a ruined castle and fishing lochs. Locals even talk of a Viking King being buried under the grounds of the house!
