Caravan / Motorhome without Electricity - Grass

Thacka Lea Caravan Park is located in Penrith, Cumbria which is the heart of the Eden valley and the gateway to the Lake District. It is the perfect base to explore the Lake District and Eden Valley in your touring caravan or motorhome.

We are located at the north end of the small market town of Penrith. Penrith is a historic market town and an attractive tourist centre. Within the town there are many traditional and specialist food, clothing and gift shops as well as many cafes, restaurants and pubs. The museum and castle give a great insight into the history of Penrith. In addition to shopping and history, Penrith has many leisure and sporting facilities to offer as well as good bus and rail transport links for days out around Cumbria.

The toilet and shower block has hot showers and a shaver point. Additional facilities include a washing up area, waste disposal and recycling bins. 

The Park is pet friendly, but dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Thacka Lea Caravan Park

Trundle along quiet country lanes in a traditional horse drawn gypsy caravan before camping up at one of our secluded camps where you can cook over an open fire paddle in the streams and immerse yourselves in nature and the great outdoors, before nestling up for the night in the cosy gypsy wagon. When inside a gypsy caravan you will have everything you need to relax and have a gorgeous night's sleep.

You will be on nature's doorstep with your feet up by the woodburner, but the experience of the gypsy caravan starts before the threshold. These caravans are like no other and are built with beauty in mind as much from the outside as within. The gypsy caravans will carry off any photo just by being in the background! 

The caravans are fully insulated and there is plenty of storage. Each wagon has its own BBQ/fire pit and rustic seating.

Longsleddale, Cumbria – St Mary’s

All of our pitches offer a waterside camping experience with the tranquil sound of the Croglin beck running past. It is the perfect environment to relax and unwind. 

Large spacious pitches, each with its picnic bench and fire pit mean that you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. 

Each camping pitch comes with your fire pit, great for those summer night BBQs.

If you would like to try some of our pasture-fed meat on your BBQ, orders can be placed and collected from our Farm shop. Firewood and other essentials are available to buy too.

'The Old Cow Shed'

Our facilities are located in 'The Old Cow Shed', just a short walk from the main camping area.

In the shed, you will find:

- toilets
- showers
- washing machine
- fridge freezer
- kettle and toaster
- pool table and tennis table

All of the hot water is heated using our on-farm biomass boiler.

Big Bertha is a 1973 Airstream land yacht. She has been stylishly renovated to create a unique space with all the comforts of home.

Sleeping 6 people, Big Bertha has everything you need for a luxury stay - a bathroom with a shower and toilet, a well-equipped kitchen, including an oven and fridge freezer.

Outside the airstream overlooking the Croglin Beck, there is a beautiful decking area. This is the perfect place to relax on a summers night by the fire pit.

High Hall Campsite is located on our family farm in the Eden Valley, Cumbria.
We are surrounded by the beautiful North Pennine fells with amazing views across the Valley to the Lake District National Park.
Our pitches are situated between our wildlife pond and the Croglin beck that meanders its way through the farm. Here at High Hall, you can always guarantee a waterside stay. 

​We are delighted to be a certified member of The Greener Camping Club (GCC). The GCC share our passion for the environment and sustainable low impact camping.

High Hall Campsite

- We don’t have set pitches. Just pick your spot.
- We are a grass site for tents and campervans (VWT5 maximum size). No motorhomes.
- We are a family site and will not accept all male or female groups of more than 4.
- Duke of Edinburgh students, Scouts, Walking/Climbing clubs are welcome but must be pre-arranged.
- We allow contained raised fire pits and barbecues until 11pm but you must bring your own. Campfires are not allowed.
- You can park beside your tent on some of our fields except in adverse weather conditions. - The other fields have parking bays next to them and cannot be accessed by car.
- We allow dogs on site but they must be kept under control. Please clean up after your dog immediately.
- There is no wifi or electric hook up on site. You bring everything you need with you.
- Showers, toilets, a washing up area, bins and drinking water are provided.
- There is a corner shop in the village- a 10 minute walk away.
- A freezer is available for ice packs. 
- A plug for hairdryers/straighteners is available in the ladies for 50p.


Grass pitch

Baysbrown Farm Campsite is located in the village of Chapel Stile at the entrance to the Great Langdale Valley in the heart of the Lake District. We are a working Lakeland sheep farm with an area set aside for camping. We like to be pretty casual about camping and operate on a first come first-served basis - Turn up and pick your spot. 

There are no set pitches. Being in a valley bottom means we are exposed to the elements and it can be very wet and windy if we get a typical British summer. We want you to come along and enjoy the area when the weather suits offering flexibility and spontaneity.

The views from the campsite are spectacular and the valley is a superb location for those that love the great outdoors. It is a perfect base for walking, climbing, bouldering and ghyll scrambling. Run on the trails or fells swim in the tarns and becks. Bring your bikes. From the site explore Ambleside, Coniston, Grasmere and Hawkshead villages. All within a 15-minute drive.

Welcome to Happy Hooves Riding Centre and Eamont Competition Horses. We are located in one's heart of Cumbria just outside of Penrith, 2 minutes from junction 40 in the M6. Located on the banks regarding the River Eamont, the riding school has an enjoyable perspective that is rural the river.We are available 6 times a week to give you good quality cycling classes, have a pony day, hacks out within the lovely countryside as well as the popular 3 hour Fell Ride to both kiddies and adults.We have a wide variety of horses and ponies to drive for all abilities.
