The magnificent chalky white cliffs of Dover looking out over the English Channel, offer incredible views across the sea to the French coast. For years these cliffs have been seen as an iconic landmark, a symbol of wartime return, an arrival back to Blighty, and visitors here will be treated to serene walks and plenty of wildlife. The cliffs were also used for defence in both World Wars and you can see the Second World War tunnels hidden within the chalk at Fan Bay Deep Shelter. While visiting Dover, a trip to Dover Castle is a must, with its Great Tower, Underground hospital, Medieval tunnels and lots more. An incredible look back over 900 years of history and an excellent family day out.
